Product People Experience Lead (People, Talent & Culture)

Role Overview
We are seeking a strategic and hands-on leader to shape and elevate the people experience across our Product community at CBA. This role is accountable for designing and continuously improving how we attract, develop, onboard, and grow world-class product talent.
Working at the intersection of Product, People & Culture (HR), and business leadership, you will build scalable programs and experiences that define what it means to be part of Product @ CBA—from entry through to senior leadership.
This is a high-impact role focused on raising the bar across all product roles, strengthening our operating model, and fostering a thriving, high-performing product community.
Key Responsibilities
Product Talent Strategy & Standards
- Define and evolve the skills, capabilities, and expectations for all Product roles (e.g., PM, PL, PSL, Design leadership).
- Establish and embed world-class hiring standards to attract top-tier product talent.
- Design and implement bar-raising frameworks for senior hires and promotions, ensuring consistent excellence.
People Experience & Community Building
- Create a cohesive, engaging Product community experience that supports connection, growth, and high performance.
- Champion a culture of continuous learning, feedback, and career progression across all product disciplines.
- Build and evolve career pathways and mobility opportunities within Product and from adjacent functions.
Onboarding & Development
- Design and deliver a best-in-class onboarding experience that immerses new hires in Product @ CBA ways of working.
- Partner with the Graduate team to shape and enhance the Product graduate program.
- Establish development programs that accelerate capability building across all levels.
Operating Model & Ways of Working
- Help evolve squad patterns and operating models across different product domains.
- Ensure alignment between people practices and how teams are structured and operate.
- Embed scalable practices that support autonomy, clarity, and high performance.
Talent Marketplace & Mobility
- Develop and support internal talent marketplace initiatives to enable fluid movement across teams and roles.
- Strengthen visibility of opportunities and career pathways for product professionals.
Partnership & Influence
- Work closely with People & Culture, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, and other business partners to co-design and deliver people initiatives.
- Act as a bridge between Product leadership and specialist functions to ensure alignment and execution.
- Operate autonomously within the Product function while leveraging deep partnerships across the organisation.
Future Product Skills
- Define and evolve a forward-looking product skills framework that reflects the changing environment and future of product management.
- Identify emerging capabilities required across Product roles and embed them into hiring, development, and career pathways.
- Ensure the Product community is equipped to adapt to new ways of working, tools, and industry shifts.
- Incorporate AI as a core capability, enabling product practitioners to effectively leverage AI in discovery, delivery, and decision-making.
Key Skills & Experience
- Background in consulting, HR, organisational design, or people strategy, ideally with exposure to product or technology environments.
- Strong understanding of people processes, talent lifecycle, and employee experience design.
- Proven ability to design and implement scalable programs (e.g., hiring frameworks, onboarding, career pathways).
- Experience working cross-functionally with People & Culture and business leaders to deliver complex initiatives.
- Ability to operate autonomously while influencing across a large, matrixed organisation.
- Deep empathy for people, with a strong understanding of how individuals and teams operate in modern work environments.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Understanding of emerging trends in product management, including the impact of AI on skills and ways of working.
- Passion for career growth, capability building, and creating high-performing communities.
