Job Purpose

  • Provide technical leadership for piping engineering within FEED and Detail Engineering projects in the Oil & Gas sector.
  • Define piping design bases, codes, standards, and deliverables to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions.
  • Single point of contact for Piping deliverables and Activities.
  • Interface with client and other stakeholders for successful execution of the project
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams (process, mechanical, civil, electrical, instrumentation) and vendors to ensure integrated piping systems.
  • Mentor engineers, drive quality, and ensure schedule adherence for piping deliverables across project phases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the engineering design and engineer piping systems, supports, routing, isometrics, stress analysis, and related components.
  • Develop and review piping design basis, piping material specifications, datasheets, and technical bid evaluations.
  • Perform and supervise piping stress analyses, thermal expansion, pipe routing optimization, and vibration considerations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards and project-specific requirements.
  • Participate in risk assessments and safety reviews (HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA) and operability/maintainability considerations.
  • Facilitate 3D model reviews and Plot plans reviews internally and externally with client, operations and other stakeholders.
  • Review and approve technical deliverables (isometrics, P&IDs, BOMs, MOC/Change Notes, design change requests, technical queries).
  • Develop and manage execution plans, man-hour estimates, and budgets for piping scope.
  • Ensure compliance to QA/QC practices & adhere to quality of deliverables.
  • Review and Approval of standard deliverables, various datasheets, and requisition packages related to piping.
  • Support field construction, commissioning, and start-up activities; address punch lists and as-built documentation.
  • Stay current with advances in piping technology and recommend value-added solutions.
  • Understand the MOC process and employ effective change management throughout the lifecycle of the project
  • Contribute to Lesson Learnt from the Project
  • Liaise with other supporting offices to ensure timely delivery of Piping scope.
  • Responsible for man-power planning, scheduling and reporting in consultation with Discipline Manager and Engineering Manager.

Experience

  • 18+ years of experience in Concept, FEED and Detail Engineering and EPCM experience in the Oil & Gas industry. 5+ years of which must be as a Lead design engineer in Oil and Gas industry.
  • Experience in Middle East clients like ADNOC, ARAMOC, PDO, Qatar Energies others are highly preferred.
  • Familiarity of Onshore and Offshore facilities and carried out Greenfield and Brownfield Projects.
  • Experience in working with multicultural project teams across the various project execution center’s

Qualifications

  • Master or Bachelor of Engineering in a related field.
  • Professional membership or relevant certifications (e.g., PE/Chartered Engineer) are a plus.
  • Certification related to piping design or stress analysis is advantageous.

Technical Skills

  • Strong background in piping design, engineering, stress analysis, and support design.
  • Site survey or Site deputation experience must.
  • Proficiency with piping design software and calculation tools (e.g., CAESAR, AutoPIPE and 3D modeling tools).
  • Technical experience to prepare manhours estimation for different types of piping activities & deliverables of different phases of the project like Select phase, FEED & Execution etc.
  • Familiarity with codes, standards, regulations and practices applicable to the design and construction of Various facilities.
  • Hands on knowledge of codes and standards relevant to piping.
  • Experience with high-pressure piping, thermal insulation, coatings, and corrosion considerations.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making abilities.
  • Diverse working experience in project management, conceptual, FEED and detailed design, and construction.
  • Knowledge of Interdisciplinary Work Processes/Interface/Deliverables
  • Able to demonstrate a proven track record of completing a given work scope within time and budget constraints with optimized cost.
  • Responsible for the training and development of engineers in his/her Team.
  • Feeds the Piping and Layout Department improvement system by reverting the lessons learned during the project.
  • Adherence to company processes and procedures and handle internal and external project audits.
