We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Marine HSSE Supervisor, based in Cameron, Louisiana.

General Description:

The Marine HSSE Supervisor will provide oversight of marine HSSE, providing guidance and working with VG Marine HSSE Manager to develop and maintain marine safety and security standards. They will work closely with onsite safety, security, and environmental teams, Venture Global Ship Management, government and 3rd party Stakeholders.

The Marine HSSE Supervisor will add value to VG and shall support marine operations daily and support the development and execution of contracts and inspections.

The Marine HSSE Supervisor will be on site and support the terminals in their respective locations. The HSSE Supervisor will report to the Marine HSSE Manager with a dotted line to the Site HSSE director for daily guidance.

Marine HSSE Responsibilities:

  • Provide marine HSSE oversight and support at their respective LNG terminal 
  • Oversee, implement, and manage Venture Global LNG’s safety policies and procedures while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, standards, and requirements
  • Perform marine facility audits, observations, surveys, and inspections to identify environmental, safety, and occupational hazards and weaknesses. Promote effective practices to ensure compliance and develop recommendations that provide solutions, remedies, or process improvement
  • Participate as a member of the Site Safety Committee
  • Work with the greater HSSE team on business initiatives for the betterment of Venture Global’s safety culture
  • Support marine and cargo operations, ensuring they are carried out safely and efficiently
  • Support the Marine HSSE manager in ensuring that safety management system is effectively implemented, understood, maintained, and continuously improved and remains in compliance with, and certified by, recognized authorities.
  • Assist in completing LNG terminal audits as per OCIMF MTSA guidelines. 
  • Oversee HSSE on tugs and work boats associated with each terminal, complete on-hire and annual inspection in accordance with VG procedures
  • Support the development of marine training, including supporting contractors and other 3rd parties working with VG.
  • Liaise with LNG tanker operators during incident investigations, provide reports and feedback, sharing findings and closing out action items.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or associate degree in engineering, marine or other relevant technical discipline or acceptable equivalent work experience. PTEC degree preferred or relevant process experience. 
  • Merchant Marine Officer Experience, either deck or engineer 

Experience: 

  • Five (5) to Ten (10) years of experience in the marine industry, LNG tanker, and terminal operations is preferred
  • Experience working on oil and gas tankers is preferable.
  • Experience working in an oil/gas terminal is required, experience of LNG terminals is preferable. 
  • Have a working knowledge regarding marine HSSE, including Federal and State regulations, as well as OCIMF and SIGTTO guidelines and the marine assurance process when dealing with buyers, ship operators and other Stakeholders.
  • A working knowledge of auditing, safety systems, risk analysis, emergency response, incident command, incident investigation, safe working practices, and international maritime regulations, including flag state, and classification society regulations.

Skills: 

  • Strong leadership and administrative abilities are required.
  • An acute sensitivity to safety issues in a hazardous environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of an organization and with individuals and groups from different disciplines, industries and governmental agencies. 
  • Able to work with a culturally diverse group of technical individuals whose skills cover the range required to operate and maintain the LNG terminal and Liquefaction production facilities.
  • Organized, planning skills, able to manage multiple activities and programs in a timely fashion and with a high degree of accuracy, able to meet work deadlines.  
  • Must maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing status.

Work Conditions:

  • The job is performed in an industrial plant environment.  
  • 15% travel to Houston or other VG terminal  
  • Must be able to board an LNG tanker ship via gangway and/or Pilot ladder.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work indoors & outdoors, and be exposed to year-around weather conditions, ocean environment, and noise.
