About the Role

Responsible for providing application development and support services

• Analyse relevant requirements to develop program logic for new applications and to modify logic for existing applications
• Code, test, debug, document and implement software applications
• Test and integrate application components
• Ensure that system improvements are successfully implemented
• Provide technical support to end user as required

Duties / Accountabilities

  • Lead complex IT projects and ensure good quality of deliverables to fulfill business needs;
  • Assist Senior IT Manager to monitor and provide regular updates to management on project progress and status of service requests;
  • Keep abreast of new technologies and provide advice on appropriate IT solutions to internal users;
  • Develop, enhance and review system workflow, functional specifications, system specifications, technical specifications and system manual;
  • Gather business user requirements and prepare functional specifications;
  • Ensure all projects and service requests are implemented with proper test results, sign-off and technical documentation in line with IT Standard/ Guidelines and with proper management control;
  • Provide advice to internal users on subjects related to the use of Information Technology;
  • Manage resources and provide coaching to team members on various matters, including but not limited to self-discipline, work commitment, team spirit and customer-oriented;
  • Prepare project documentation, budget, cost & benefits analysis, system feasibility study and IT product/solution evaluation.

  • Good understanding of IT System Development Life Cycle and project management methodologies by using waterfall and/or agile approach. Experience on DesOps / CI / CD is a plus
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Chinese.

Education/Work Experience

  • University degree in Computer Science or equivalent;
  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience in insurance industry a must
  • Experience in implementing core insurance applications will be an added advantage;
  • Good knowledge in AS/400 RPG, COBOL, CL programming and Policy/400;
  • Experience in leading Project Office an advantage;
  • Experience in relational databases and application development;
  • Hands-on work experience in project management, business analysis and system development.
  • Familiar with various IT platforms, including multi-tiers system architecture, Agile development approach and IT System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
