Rates and OTC Products Internship - Summer 2026
CME Group is hiring a summer intern to join the Rates and OTC Business Line Management (BLM) team in Chicago. This summer internship experience provides an exciting opportunity to gain experience in the financial services industry and discover how institutions around the globe access the world's leading derivatives marketplace for their interest rate risk management needs.
This position will assist the Rates & OTC BLM with day-to-day activities, primarily in the support of CME Group's cleared OTC interest rate swap offering. The role will include data analysis, report generation, assisting with client inquiries, and additional ad-hoc projects in support of strategic business growth. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in pursuing a career in financial markets or the financial industry more broadly.
This is a paid full-time summer internship of 10-12 weeks, based in CME Group’s Chicago headquarters. The position will be primarily in-office, with the ability to work from home 1 day per week.
Principal Accountabilities:
Assist the Rates and OTC BLM team with day-to-day tasks and long-term strategic objectives
Conduct analysis of interest rate products and adjacent markets
Assist with or lead generation of reports that will be regularly referenced by the BLM team and CME management
Track and respond to inbound client inquiries where necessary to assist with ongoing initiatives
Work cross-functionally to collaborate with other teams within CME Group, including: Clearing, Marketing, and Sales
Skills / Software Requirements:
Microsoft Office Suite Proficiency - Excel & PowerPoint
Google Workspace - Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides
Other data aggregation and query tools (Power BI, Looker, SAP Business Objects etc.)
Qualifications:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or another field with a demonstrated interest or passion for financial markets
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to prioritize and manage various assignments in parallel
Relevant experience in financial markets & derivatives preferred
