Position Summary

Position will conduct clinical assessments and comprehensive neurological examinations in research setting for the Knight Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center (Knight ADRC) in the community and at the Memory and Aging Project (MAP); works under physician oversight as required by state regulation, and functions within the scope of practice defined by the APP’s specialty certification, BJH medical by-laws, and, where it exists, the collaborative practice agreement. The position will partner with the research team to continue to cultivate cultural tailored care, increase diversity and inclusion, and provide a welcoming environment for research.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Conducts clinical assessments for the presence and stage of dementia using parameters set by the Knight ADRC research protocol including the Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR) and comprehensive neurological and physical examinations of research participants; reviews recorded MAP assessments performed by other clinicians for inter-rater reliability.
  • This position will have community and patient engagement and will conduct research assessments at community partner centers in addition to Washington University.
  • Provides culturally tailored counseling and education to patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options, and community resources.
  • Monitors/ensures accuracy of patient medical records, maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
  • Maintains a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients/families that is culturally appropriate in accordance with established clinic/hospital standards.
  • Provides management services for clinical research study projects; monitors research participants, including medication administration and family/patient education.
  • Works in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection. Regularly participates in constant quality improvement and process improvement activities centered on the goal of providing exceptional, evidence-based patient care.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Schedule:

  • This position is Monday - Friday days, no holidays and only occasional weekends.
  • Rotate with other MAP nurses and APPs for afterhours availability to remotely coordinate brain autopsies; on-call rotation occurs for one week at a time approximately every two months (does not require travel to research office; after hours calls are rare).

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
