Strategic Space Systems Division is seeking a Mechanical Technician 3/4. This position will be located at our Space Systems Sector in Redondo Beach, CA.
Successful candidates will have extensive knowledge of diverse assembly techniques, knowledge of Structural bonding techniques, including bonding/drilling/trimming of composite and metallic assemblies, as well as the fundamentals of Composite Layup and Trim. Ability to read engineering drawings and application of processes, procedures, and documents relative to Composite hardware commonly found in the aerospace industry. Candidate must have a comprehensive understanding of Geometric Positioning and Tolerancing usage and application. Performs a variety of duties assisting mechanical engineers in the development, assembly and integration of Space Vehicle mechanical components, assemblies, and systems as well as set up and test complete prototype or flight units and sub-assemblies under operational conditions.
Position requires 4- or 6-years minimum experience in the skills relative to the Aerospace Composite Fabrication and Assembly field. This position may require 2nd shift support.
Individuals must be able to demonstrate to Quality Assurance that work performed meets engineering drawing requirements. Works with chemicals. This position may be required to perform other duties as assigned. Must be willing to work any shift and extended work weeks.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
Basic Qualifications:
Background Investigation (SSBI) completed within 5 years.
• Four or Six years of experience performing Aerospace Composite mechanical technician competencies
• Willing to work any shift and cover extended work weeks as required
• Hands-on knowledge and experience with the use of a variety of hand
tools and mechanical equipment
