Job Summary and Description:

The Facilities Fire Suppression Coordinator at Micron Technology, Inc., is responsible for coordinating all aspects of fire suppression, NFPA and other regulatory compliance and sustaining operations. Works with technicians on trouble shooting and system operation. Responsible for proper compliance documentation with the AHJ. Works in a team environment with contracted services and other construction and engineering disciplines. Responsible for managing the PM program within the CMMS system ensuring that required work is being scheduled and completed on time to maintain compliance. Is the Micron interface to any contracted services performing outsourced operations and/or testing and ensures work is being completed per specification and without impacting operations.

  

Engineering support and oversite of Design, Construction, Commissioning of Mechanical systems including:

  • Review of vendor provided design drawings and specifications for completeness and accuracy
  • Review of equipment configuration and distribution routing of systems relative to functionality, egress, ease of maintenance requirements, constructability, alignment with P&ID's, etc.
  • Validation of engineering calculations
  • Review and approval of equipment and component submittals in coordination with O&M staff
  • Review and validation of construction RFI responses
  • Review and approval of shop drawings and construction models
  • Field engineering QA during construction
  • Commissioning support
  • Provide accurate cost estimates for projects.
  • Entry of system information into a capacity planning software

Qualifications:

  • Excellent understanding of IFC codes, NFPA codes/standards and requirements governing fire suppression systems
  • Proven ability to plan, drive and complete projects effectively
  • Proven skills in working effectively with team members from different disciplines
  • Strong leadership skills with the proven ability to coordinate efforts across a variety of groups
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and efficiently facilitate meetings and project teams
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills
  • Strong partnering, negotiation, and team-working skills with team members from different disciplines
  • Proven ability to communicate and present technical information effectively to all audiences

Education and Experience: 

  • Required: Minimum – Relevant degree or appropriate certification/license and 5-years of fire suppression system experience. NICET Leve III certification or the ability to obtain NICET Level III certification in Water-Based Systems Layout.
  • Preferred: 6-10 years of coordination experience on fire suppression systems. Experience with Compliance Engine software for documentation.
