Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Market Risk Officer within Corporate Market Risk Group (CMRG).  This role is in the Equities Market Risk Oversight team within the CMRG with the primary responsibility to monitor and manage market risks associated with our equity cash, derivatives and finance businesses.

In this role, you will:

  • Engage with front line risk takers and senior management as a subject-matter expert to help them understand the primary drivers of market risk in the portfolio and assist regulators in understanding how we manage market risk
  • Ensure the desk’s market risk remains within established risk appetite and provide the necessary analysis and discretion to set limits for desks within the Equities business
  • Provide vision, direction and expertise to business and risk leadership on the market risk impact of key strategies and initiatives to ensure risk is consistent with the firm’s risk appetite
  • Lead efforts to measure risk across the Equity Derivatives portfolio for existing products and consider how the introduction of new products or initiatives impacts these efforts
  • Deliver long term and robust solutions that help capture and evaluate market risk within Equity Derivatives which can benefit the broader Corporate Market Risk Group


Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: trading, desk analyst, Capital Markets, market risk, interest rate risk or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in equity derivatives trading or market risk with a focus on volatility markets
  • Advanced SQL skills and proficiency in Python and Excel
  • Comfortable moving into the role based on deep understanding of equity derivatives and the associated markets.
  • Self-starter, with the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to communicate with coverage in sales and trading to convey key components of risk and how they are being driven by activity.  
  • Comfortable providing reporting to senior managers at the appropriate level of detail.
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree or higher
