The Multi Asset Solutions Team (MAST) manages over $160 billion of multi-asset and outcome-oriented portfolios distributed across the Institutional, Retail, and Retirement platforms at Manulife.

The investment strategist team within MAST is hiring an Investment Associate reporting to a Managing Director.  This role will help with the day-to-day activities of the team, including investment strategy research, creating reports, maintaining data, and supporting content for delivery to clients.

Responsibilities

  • Support senior MAST members by compiling economic and market data, producing analysis, and developing and updating charts.
  • Support the firm’s investment strategists in the development of thought leadership content and related deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-the-minute knowledge of positioning across the firm’s global investment strategies.
  • Track economic and market views from a sizeable network of research providers and distribution partners.
  • Maintain knowledge of daily market and economic activity, as well as investor/advisor trends; produce analysis and create reports as needed.
  • Maintain a detailed database of asset allocation decisions over time; track and analyze decisions on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
  • Support team on research projects related to investment and macroeconomic strategy.

Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, economics, business, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in the investment industry
  • Graduate degree and/ or CFA preferred (or progress towards one or both)
  • Experience with research tools such as Factset, Bloomberg, and Morningstar
  • Knowledge of global markets and asset allocation
  • Well-developed research and analytical skills; attention to detail and quality
  • Highly quantitative; advanced proficiency in excel required (e.g. building macros, troubleshooting complex formulas)

  • Precision (is the data correct, is the successful candidate helping us catch mistakes, do they help with overall quality control)
  • Innovation (creating original content for presentations, blogs, tweets, etc. developing new reports, etc.).

Salary range is expected to be between

$74,000.00 USD - $124,000.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
