Job Summary

The Plant Manager plays a fundamental and critical role at Black Rifle Coffee Company. This position is responsible for managing all aspects of the Manchester TN, manufacturing facility to deliver world class results in safety, people/ team development, quality, cost, and service. A dynamic leader who has demonstrated servant leadership along with the ability to provide strategic thinking for our fast-growing omni-channel footprint. Superior team building skills along with the ability to develop and execute strategies to exceed company objectives in safety, employee engagement, volume growth, food safety, product quality, service (OTIF), and cost optimization.

Job Details

Leadership and Functional Responsibilities:

  • Create a high-performance operations team by developing teams with an appropriate mix of experience, capabilities, and skills to consistently meet company goals and departmental initiatives in the most cost-effective manner. Ensure effective succession planning for all pivotal positions.
  • Cultivate a safety culture. Ensure compliance with all food regulatory requirements and adherence to food safety and GMP’s.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to facilitate commercialization of new products.
  • Manage KPI's to include (but not limited to): Safety, People development, Quality, Service, and Cost. Conduct regular operational reviews to identify opportunity areas and eliminate waste.
  • Plan, organize and direct the manufacturing operations ensuring the plant meets the daily production schedule, producing products that meet or exceed established standards.
  • Develop and deliver the annual operating plan (AOP). Manage budget and cost controls considering changes in demand (volume), business seasonality and required service levels.
  • Drive the development and implementation of capital plans to deliver productivity through improved efficiencies and increased capacity for existing and new products.
  • Oversee personnel activities, including hiring, talent selection, development, disciplinary actions, and evaluations for operational personnel. Eliminate barriers, roadblocks and resolve conflict.
  • Identify manufacturing cost drivers and proactively adjust manpower and department expenses to achieve budget commitments.
  •  Ensure all products meet product specifications and consumer / customer complaints are fully investigated and addressed.
  • Provide focus and coordination in communicating and resolving immediate business issues i.e., product holds, service concerns, inventory risk or other significant occurrences.
  • Inspire the team and be the voice of the company’s core values, to motivate and capture personal commitment in creating a pathway to both their individual and our collective long-term success and growth.
  • Establish and maintains favorable facility/company and community relationships through active participation in community affairs.
  • Collaborate with Supply Planning to provide regular capacity analysis based on demonstrated efficiency to ensure adequate capacity is available to meet Customer demands.
  • Update leadership and cross functional support organizations on emerging manufacturing opportunities/risks. Develop effective and timely contingency plans to avert issues.

Education and Skill Requirements

  • 10+ years of operations leadership experience in a dynamic organization. Consumer packaged goods or food industry experience strongly preferred. Coffee experience a plus.
  • BS/BA degree, preferably with engineering, management, logistics and or food science qualifications. Advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) is a plus.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Authentic leader: direct communicator, able to build strong relationships across the company, with all levels.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate manufacturing requirements and develop contingency plans that eliminate or reduce disruption to operations.
  • Strong Food and Safety knowledge including legal compliance of federal, state, and local food and safety laws and regulations.
  • Excellent Team-building skills. Possess the ability to gain consensus and deliver results with and through people.
  • Experienced in managing capital programs.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to deliver to deadlines with strong follow-up skills, problem resolution, and strategic thinking.
  • Must have great collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively work closely with cross-functional teams to resolve conflicting interests and obtain cooperation.
  • Ability to manage a diverse work force.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work/Physical Requirements

  • This is a full-time position and may require long hours and may require weekend and nights work per events.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard reach, stoop kneel to install computer equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Light to moderate lifting is required.
  • Ability to uphold the stress of traveling.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate.
  • Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
  • Ability to work in a confined area.
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period of time.
