Join Our Team at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. Over the years, SPMS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.

Join the laboratory of Prof Ling San at SPMS. We are seeking a Research Fellow to support research in coding theory so that the coding theory group at NTU will continue to be one of the leading international centres in the field. This will help NTU to maintain excellence in research in mathematics and computer science.

Skilled research staff working at this frontier research field is an essential human resource towards generating new knowledge and research impact that contributes to NTU’s sustained climb in the University Rankings (QS, THE, Shanghai Ranking, and the US News and World Report).

Key Responsibilities:

  • To conduct high quality research in coding theory (Average of 2 publications per year in high quality journals)

  • To assist the Principal Investigator (PI) with the writing of research papers.

  • To assist the PI with the writing of research grants.

  • To assist the PI in the supervision and mentoring of a small research team comprising post-graduate students and undergraduate students.

Job Requirements:

  • Candidate must possess at least a PhD Degree in mathematics or computer science with strong publication track records. PhD candidates who are about to submit their thesis for examination or have submitted their thesis for defence are also welcome to apply.

  • Proficiency in programming would be preferred.
