Job Description

Reports to       :   Operations Manager

Supervises      :    Assigned Staff

Authority level :   If applicable, field project expenditure

1. Basic Function

The Surveyor performs all office and field related survey assignments as defined by the Project or Operations Manager.

2.  Primary Duties and Responsibilities

2.1  Operations

a) Assist Party Chief with the execution of given work and tasks

b) Organise own work in given cases

c) Execute given work in accordance with specifications, procedures and work practices

d) Assist and if applicable processes data, carries out computations and compiles survey reports in given company format

e) Check work of subordinate staff

f) On occasions is expected to liaise directly with client

g) Actively participate in implementation of QC procedures in the field environment.

2.2   Financial

a) Assist the Party Chief, Project Manager and/or Operations Co-ordinator in maintaining expense accounting

b) Account for own project and business related expenditure.

2.3    Personnel

a) Advise superior on subordinate staff performance

b) Assist with training and advising Trainee Surveyors.

2.4    Administration

a) Assist with maintenance of field survey administration and field filing system in accordance with work practices

b) Ensure time spent on projects is properly accounted for

c) Ensure expense accounts are correctly completed and accounted for

d) Assist with field related expenditure reporting.

2.5    Specific Additional Duties

a) Actively participate in adherence to and improvement of the company Management System on Quality and HSE related issues.

3.   Principal Working Relationships

a) Work with superior field staff to ensure projects are completed to clients specifications

b) Meet with own staff on a regular basis to monitor job progress

c) Meet with Project Manager for project debrief

d) Meet with Operations Manager for selected project debriefs, Staff Development Interviews and if applicable personal Performance Appraisal discussion.

4.   Education / Experience Requirements

a) B.Sc. level or Diploma in surveying or survey related education or sufficient oil field related experience

b) Conversant with computer operation and a basic knowledge of application software

c) English language.
