Job Description:

QMA Quantitative Developer (Associate)

Toronto Dominion Securities is one of Canada’s leading providers of advisory and capital market services and the premier provider of liquidity to corporations, governments and institutions.  In the world’s key financial centers, we partner with our clients to deliver innovative financial solutions that help them achieve their strategic and financial goals.  Within TDS, the Quantitative Modeling and Analytics team provides models, analytics and quantitative support to the rates, credit and commodities business units to enable them to achieve these goals.

Due to continuing business growth, we are looking to hire an Associate to join the QMA team as an Interest Rates quant to support the fixed income interest rate modeling.  This individual will be responsible for a range of tasks including

  • Design and implement new infrastructure, interfaces, code generators, APIs and other technical components in the C++ model library
  • Design, develop and support language bindings of the analytics library to at least Excel, Python and C++
  • Maintain strong knowledge of current markets, trends and innovations and adapt the platform approaches as appropriate
  • Provide support for performance analysis of the models and work with the quantitative modelers and users
  • Partner with other areas in TDS including traders, technology, risk management, treasury, finance, and compliance to deploy new or enhanced models to production

The successful candidate will demonstrate skills in a number of distinct areas including

  • Knowledge of modern software development
  • Superior software and programming skills in C++ with a record of consistent delivery
  • Commercially oriented with a pragmatic approach to project development and delivery
  • A MS or PhD degree in a technical field, or a Masters in Financial Engineering
  • A demonstrated pragmatic approach to project development and delivery
  • Outstanding communication and team-working skills
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment with tight deadlines
  • Experience on interest rate product valuation, Interest Rates curve modeling.

Education & Experience:

  • College degree, or specialized training / equivalent work experience
  • 3+ Years of related experience
  • Advanced knowledge of the technical environment/ tools (e.g., user environment, applications, software, hardware, programming languages and operating systems) in own area
  • Advanced knowledge of business processes and procedures on a broad, organizational level
  • Sound to advanced knowledge of business/ organization, Bank standards, infrastructure, architecture and technology in related areas from a design/ support/ solutions perspective

Depth & Scope:

  • Conducts program/system research, analysis, design and problem resolution
  • Ensures defect free programming by testing and debugging using available/appropriate tools and participates in reviewing peer coding
  • Participates in identifying and recommending development/testing solutions/tools in support of project objectives
  • Develops, implements, maintains and improves solutions/processes that maximize system availability, efficiency/effectiveness and minimize/prevent problems/issues
  • Adheres to existing processes/standards, technology architecture, risk and production capacity guidelines and objectives; plans, monitors, tests and escalates issues as required
  • Works with the architecture group to ensure good architectural design and raises issues as they develop through the project lifecycle in a timely manner
  • Complies with the system development life cycle (SDLC) and project management methodology (PMLC) by participating in scope assessment, risk and cost analysis
  • Subject matter expert in at least one area of discipline and consults with clients/or project teams with respect to all aspects of research, analysis, design, hardware/ software support, development of technical solutions and/or testing
  • Works independently in a senior/lead role on a diverse range of tasks and may be relied upon to coach/ educate others
  • Leads the development of detailed/ complex and/or comprehensive project plans for large projects
  • Assignments are moderately to highly complex and multi-faceted
  • May provide guidance/direction to a few IT professionals
  • Acts as a resource in the exchange of technical information for project teams, the business and/or outside vendors
  • Develops and operationalize technology standards, policies and processes to address BSA/AML/OFAC risks
  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of BSA/AML/OFAC risks related to technology projects and processes
  • Keeps direct reports informed about relevant information on BSA/AML/OFAC requirements and escalation procedures
