Interiors Integration Engineer (Associate, Experienced and Senior)

The Boeing Company is looking for a broad range of experience levels including Experienced, Senior and Lead Interiors Integration Engineers to join our team in San Antonio, TX.

As an Interiors Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for interfacing heavily with our customer, supplier, sub-tiers, and other Boeing teams to provide strong design, requirements management, certification, and program management to solve complex technical challenges.  

The individual will focal specific areas of the interior and drive technical resolution, integrated development, and change for areas including, but not limited to, passenger seats, lighting, ceilings, sidewalls, floors, monuments, and furnishings.  Engineers will maintain conversations with our USAF counterparts to develop and maintain relationships and act as the ‘voice of the customer’ in supplier interactions.

This is a high visibility role with technical assignments that directly support the VC-25B program’s top level goals, initiatives, and challenges. This position offers the potential to broaden skills and experience across multiple engineering disciplines, commodities, and business units.

The ideal candidate should be willing to stretch beyond their experience base and lead where process definition may not exist or is unclear. The candidate will be self-motivated, able to work under consultative direction, has excellent people skills, and has the ability to negotiate, build consensus, and deliver results. A quick learner that possesses the ability to quickly understand complex technical concepts across multiple disciplines.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design
  • Develop, maintain and modify structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools (CATIA / ENOVIA) and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle
  • Perform, integrate analytical and test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
  • Manage supplier development, test and production activities and coordinates with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals
  • Develop new design/analysis processes and tools to improve the effectiveness, quality and efficiency of the development effort
  • Work under general direction

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.

This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • 3+ years’ experience working with commercial payloads systems and/or interiors
  • 3+ years of experience establishing relationships and maintaining strong on-going communication with customers, suppliers and/or vendors
  • Experience working across multiple engineering disciplines
  • Proven experience as a self-starter with strong written and oral communication skills, and a focus on translating technically complex issues into simple, easy to understand concepts

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience leading projects through the design and initial implementation phases with handoffs to production installations
  • Experience directly interfacing with customers and senior program leadership
  • Experience with CATIA / ENOVIA release processes
  • Ability to take ownership / initiative, pull teams together, remove roadblocks
  • Experience with Military or Commercial Derivative Aircraft
  • Experience with delivery and certification processes, working with FAA regulations, and Regulatory Administration
  • Experience working across multiple business units and/or complex organizations
  • Ability to work out of comfort zone, where process definition does not exist or is unclear

Typical Education/Experience: 

Experienced (Level 3) Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4) Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Lead (Level 5) Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

This position does not offer relocation.  The selected candidate will need to be located in the surrounding area or relocate at their own expense.

Summary Pay Range: 

Experienced $90,100 - 121,900

Senior $ 113,050 - 152,950

Lead: $134,300 - 181,700
