Forklift Operator

 

Shift: Monday - Friday, 5:00am - 1:30pm

Pay: $22.87/hour

Position Summary:   

As a Production Forklift Driver, you will be a vital member of our production/inventory team. Utilizing a forklift, you will be responsible for safely maneuvering yet efficiently transporting/staging packaging materials and raw ingredients for each production station as per formula and/or requested by the operator.  Responsibilities include transporting all finished products to the appropriate storage aisle and removing debris as needed. Housekeeping includes dumping trash receptacles, removing recyclables to appropriate areas, sweeping raw/finished goods area and being able to run the floor scrubber to maintain a safe and clean environment. You will communicate to Production Team Lead / Control room operator daily the raw materials/packaging needs to be replenished from outside warehouses to keep production running efficiently. Attention to detail is key to the success of this individual as they will be responsible for documenting forms correctly, forklift inspections daily, verifying lot codes and item numbers are correct on all finished products and raw materials. Teamwork and versatility are crucial for success in this role. As a Production Forklift Driver, you will be monitored by the Production Lead and Production Supervisor to ensure Quality, Good Manufacturing Practices, Safety, Training and Housekeeping requirements are met daily. 

Required Experience and Education: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent  

  • Read and write in English  

  • Good math, language and reading skills; basic computer skills may be required  

  • High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment  

  • Follow instructions for operating equipment and records keeping 

  • Execute assignments in an accurate, timely and safe manner  

  • Maintain a clean & safe environment 

  • Knowledge and understanding of FIFO (First in First Out)  

  • Must be able to pass Forklift Certification 

  • Good communication skills 

  • Use of radio frequency equipment as needed 

  • Work in fast past environment with constant demand changes 

Essential Physical Requirements: 

  • Lift up to 60 pounds 

  • Adjust body position to bend, stoop, stand, walk, turn pivot 

  • Sit for long periods of time, while operating Forklift 

  • Good sense of balance 

  • Good eye-hand-foot coordination 

  • Ability to work in a dusty environment 

  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, depending on season 32-110 degrees 

  • Ability to learn all operating equipment and duties 

  • Perform daily stretching exercises  

  • Standing: Occasionally 

    Pushing/Pulling: Frequently 

    Lift Capacity up to 60 lbs.: Frequently 

    Noise typical of a production environment: Entire shift/Hearing Protection Required 

     

    Time Demands: 

    On occasion, business demands may require some employees to work overtime. 

    When overtime is required, employees are expected to work extra hours as required to meet business needs – this is a requirement of this position.
