Job Description:

Better and fairer care.  Always.

St Vincent's has been a leader in Australia's health and aged care landscape for more than 165 years. Since our founders, the Sisters of Charity, opened our first hospital in 1857, our services and nearly 30,000 people have been behind some of Australia's most important medical breakthroughs. We are a microcosm of Australia’s health and aged care system and are uniquely positioned to lead and respond to our rapidly changing environment.

We are looking for a special kind of person - a St Vincent’s kind of person. Someone who puts excellence, compassion, connection and caring for other people at the heart of everything they do.

As Finance Manager you will oversee a small, high-performing team of management accountants, data analysts, and finance officers. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer – QLD Private Hospitals, you will deliver end-to-end management of finance activities across our Northside, Toowoomba, and Brisbane private hospitals. This high-impact role focuses heavily on management accounting and analytics to identify opportunities for operational improvement.

This is a permanent full-time position based in and around Brisbane and working across our three QLD private hospitals.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Provide timely, objective advice to the CFO and QLD Executive Team on financial matters influencing hospital performance.
  • Manage month-end financial reporting and prepare annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial models for each facility.
  • Lead the development and review of business cases and capital projects, including profitability analysis of new business activities.
  • Identify and lead financial efficiency initiatives and foster a culture of financial awareness across the hospitals.
  • Manage and mentor a small team, fostering a culture of high-performance and support.

Things that work for us:

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting, business, or commerce and membership in a professional accounting body (CA/CPA or relevant).
  • Proven experience in management accounting within a large, complex organisation, ideally with an understanding of private hospital operations and funding models.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, business case development, and using complex financial accounting systems.
  • High-level interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and influence a wide range of senior stakeholders.
  • Previous experience managing a team and a commitment to fostering a respectful, performance-based culture.

Things that work for you:

  • Ability to visibly see your impact on the business and its service
  • Competitive salary packaging options
  • Discounted private health insurance
  • Employee Assistance Program for staff and their families
  • Access to the Fitness Passport (FP)

At St Vincent’s we value inclusivity and diversity and acknowledge the importance of creating a work environment that is welcoming, safe, fair and impartial and invites people from all backgrounds to join us.
