The Instructional (IC) reports to the Director Teaching, Learning and Academic Technologies in the Academic Affairs department and supports multiple educational entities within Advocate Health. The Instructional Coach supports the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of high-quality in person, online, hybrid, and technology enhanced learning experiences. This role partners closely with faculty, academic leadership, and multiple educational entities across Advocate Health to ensure courses meet institutional quality standards, leverage effective pedagogical strategies, integrate innovative and effective technologies, and comply with accessibility requirements. The position is responsible for designing and developing digital course materials and learning objects; managing instructional design projects; staying current with emerging instructional technology resources; and developing and delivering training and professional development that empowers team members and faculty to implement effective teaching and technology solutions.

Supports the use of current, traditional, and innovative teaching methodologies and instructional technologies in the classrooms and via the learning management system (LMS).
· Collaborates with and assists faculty on the effective use of teaching practices, instructional technology tools and solutions using sound instructional design principles.
· Creates multimedia resources, course components, and learning objects to match identified instructional goals and learning outcomes.
· Research and evaluate new and emerging technologies.
· Refers faculty to system-based and community resources for instructional development in the use of educational technologies, as needed.
· Collaborates with other staff to plan, design, and facilitate professional development for faculty in the use of instructional technology solutions that support best practices in teaching and learning.
· Assists in maintaining the functionality of the equipment and LMS used to deliver distance education.
· Assists in assuring security of multimedia and electronic hardware, software, and distance learning technology.
· Collaborate with Student Affairs and teammates. Assist Registrar and Admissions Offices in enhancing student onboarding, account management, and ensuring accuracy between the SIS and LMS.
· Manages special instructional design and multi-media projects.
· Coordinates projects from inception to completion.
· Manages project timelines and coordinates with other team members to meet project outcomes.
· Works with faculty as subject matter experts to identify learner needs.
· Creates supporting material/media (audio, video, presentations, etc.) to meet project goals.
· Collaborates to design, develop and deliver essential training for institutional technologies (i.e. Outlook, Student Information System, Office, etc.).
· Provides backup for the learning technology teammates as needed.
Maintains professional competence, including system- and college-assigned requirements.
· Possesses and continually develops position-specific knowledge and requirements.
· Works with the director and provost to identify and schedule needed orientation and/or training related to the position.
· On an ongoing basis, participates in appropriate continuing education, training offerings or other scholarly activities (e.g., certification training, formal education, membership in professional organizations, conference attendance, presentation or publications).
· Annually evaluates own job performance and goal attainment.
· Demonstrates high level of proficiency with computer technologies appropriate to the position.
· Completes relevant training, as required (e.g., annual continuing education (ACE) modules, Title IX and Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) training, mental health first aid training).
· Complies with Advoocate Health’s clinical requirements (e.g., tuberculosis screening tests, annual influenza vaccination), as required.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
· Moving equipment, forms, and books as needed.
· Utilizes multi media equipment as a teaching methodology.
· Assists manager, institutional technology with inventories of computer and audiovisual equipment.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Requires full range body motion including manual and finger dexterity and eye hand coordination.
· Requires sitting, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.
· Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 lbs.
· Responsible for working in a safe manner.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
· Master's degree in a field related to educational technology (such as instructional system, instructional design, instructional technology, distance learning/education, multimedia development) or equivalent combination of education and closely relevant experience (such as a post-master's certificate). 5+ years' experience in academic support as an instructional designer or equivalent required.
· Previous experience with learning management systems and educational technologies is required.
· Previous experience in supporting users of the current versions of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and Teams is required.
· Demonstrated proficiency using standard various software applications, graphics software, and basic web page editors.
· Previous experience with processes and standards for planning and implementing instructional design and development is required.
· Two calendar year’s prior employment with experience related to software training is preferred.
· One calendar year experience within a higher education setting preferred.

· Will share information only on a need-to-know basis for work purposes.
· Access to verbal, written, and electronic PHI and student information has been determined based on job level and job responsibility within the organization. Computerized access to PHI and student information for this job has been determined as described above and is controlled via user ID and password.
MACHINE, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
· Utilizes audiovisual, computer lab and classroom equipment correctly and responsibly.
· Reports evidence of misuse or broken equipment to institutional technology manager.
· Utilizes computer for email, word processing and classroom presentations, as appropriate.
