ABOUT THIS POSITION

The Security Analyst role is critical in safeguarding our internal customers by monitoring, analyzing, and responding to security incidents. The Security Analyst will have the opportunity to work with an assortment of world-class security tools that will assist in identifying potential security incidents, attack vectors, root causes, and threat actors. This position requires a keen understanding of threat detection, and incident response. It also requires strong analytical skills to identify and mitigate security threats to ensure that Waystar remains the first choice for our customers and partners.  

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Providing 24/7/365 monitoring and analysis of security events across the enterprise. 
  • Investigate security alerts, determining the scope, impact, and severity of the threat. 
  • Aid in development and maintenance of standard operating procedures for incident detection, response, and escalation. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve security incidents and implement appropriate countermeasures. 
  • Perform threat hunting activities to proactively identify and mitigate threats. 
  • Maintain and update security tools to ensure optimal performance and effectiveness. 
  • Provide timely and accurate reports on security activities, trends, and metrics to leadership and stakeholders. 
  • Participate in developing security awareness training and education programs for staff members to enhance cybersecurity awareness and promote best practices. 
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure during critical situations.  
  • A strong analytical mind with a penchant for asking questions and conducting root cause analysis.  

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • 2+ years of direct experience working in a Security Operations Center or an adjacent position involving security investigations and response. Including log analysis, normalization, data correlation, gap analysis, and root cause.  

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks based on the severity and impact of security incidents. 

  • Experience working in hybrid infrastructure environments, distributed corporate environments and cloud environments. 

  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, threat landscape, and attack vectors. 

  • Proficiency in using security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, and threat intelligence platforms. 

  • Experience with incident response procedures, including incident triage, containment, eradication, and recovery. 

  • Familiarity with common security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, CIS Controls). 

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze large datasets and identify anomalies. 

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders. 

Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CySA+, Network+, GIAC, etc. will be taken into consideration.
