Job Duties:

Plan, direct, or coordinate, usually through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with the construction of structures, facilities, and systems. Participate in the conceptual development of a construction project and oversee its organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation.

Document onsite construction conflicts with the architects & engineers of record, and coordinate the formal issuance of contract drawing changes. Coordination, review and submittal of all materials and shop drawings required for the construction project, as they pertain to structural concrete, millwork, low voltage backbone, and exterior insulation and finish systems. Plan and coordinate concrete slab penetrations with mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fire protection, and pneumatic tube trade partners. Assist in documenting construction progress in an automated BIM model tracking platform.  Effectively manage the procurement effort during the life cycle of the construction project and coordinate with the project field team and other Project Engineers to ensure deliverables. Achieve trade partner buy-in and work alongside preconstruction/estimating teams. Resolve issues related to procurement with the trade partners and communicates them to the owner and consultant. Collaborates with superintendents to continually monitor productivity, costs, schedule, and execution. Manage a construction project budget and flag any potential budget variances in DPR’s online platform, CMiC. Coordination of any variances with the owner and the associated impact to the project.

Minimum education/experience requirements: Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or in a project/field engineer-related occupation.

Skill Requirements: Position requires at least 3 years of experience in each of the following skills:

  • Document onsite construction conflicts with the architects & engineers of record and coordinate the formal issuance of contract drawing changes using ACCs (Autodesk Construction Clouds) function RFI (Request for Information) to slip sheet drawings and post changes on drawings pertaining to the scope for clarification and keeping project contract drawings up to date.
  • Participate in online drawing model coordination effort between trade partners and engineer/architect using Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology through software like- BIM 360, Navisworks, BIM Glue, to investigate and identify potential conflicts between Mechanical HVAC /Electrical/Plumbing systems and resolve them by documenting and assigning issues to related trade/engineer, tracking until the clashes have been resolved by facilitating meetings between involved parties.
  • Manage the procurement process during the construction phase to meet or beat the project schedule using SharePoint Excel, reviewing Oracle P6 to stay in sync with project teams to keep schedule on track and convey any forecasted delays to the client.
  • Support the development of subcontracts by preparing work scopes with trade partners, estimating costs, preparing bid tabs, assisting with the prequalification process, etc. using quantity takeoff method by reviewing contract drawings and highlighting scope before contract execution. 
  • Develop and manage lists of quality issues including rolling completion lists and rework lists (including punch lists) using ACC function “Issues”. Track completion of items in ACC as progress occurs and distribute final response report.
  • Maintain all written communications that pertain to quality (e.g., distinguishing features list, issues log, inspection plans, etc.) by logging reports using SharePoint, Box (Online cloud storage platform) and One Note.
  • Perform or facilitate inspections, review materials received onsite, and facilitate the inspection process using ACC to ensure that trade partner provided approved product data with the material that is being delivered, to maintain transparency between client, engineer and architect.
  • Identify common health and safety issues on the job site and take appropriate actions to prevent incidents (e.g., improper ladder use, lack of fall protection, missing PPE, etc.) using construction safety protocol.
  • Ensure that any changes to contracted base scope by the architect/engineer/client are accurately documented and tracked using online contract management platform “CMiC”. Communicate change orders promptly to all relevant team members (I.e. Superintendents, SPW, and trade partners.) to determine further action items needed from trade partners to assign them added scope work and track their T&M tickets (time and material) for performed work.
  • Demonstrate awareness and understanding of contract documents, including owner contract requirements. Manage document control in project controls system in accordance with the contract using ACC function “Submittals” and RFI to track committed submittals (product data, shop drawings, warranty letters) from the trade partners, and notify the team when changes to documents affect the field.
