What impact you’ll make

The Manufacturing Process Operator W (Junior Coater) is an entry-level position designed to introduce employees to the fundamentals of Thermal Spray coating operations. This role provides a structured training path with the potential to apply for promotional opportunities as a 04Y Coater upon successful completion of the training program (approximately 12 months).

Job Description

What you'll do:

  • Learn the basic metallurgical and mechanical properties of Thermal Spray coatings.

  • Perform daily pre-operational tests on Thermal Spray equipment and systems under supervision.

  • Interpret methods and process parameters with guidance.

  • Assist 04Y Coaters in setting up, troubleshooting, and performing complex Thermal Spray Coating operations using manual and computer-controlled equipment.

  • Provide fill-in support for 04Y Coaters when trained and approved by leadership.

  • Prepare, clean, finish, and inspect parts as required.

  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process issues in coating cells, guns, feeders, etc.

  • Support manufacturing team tasks including 5S duties, inspections, and preparation areas.

  • Participate in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Quality initiatives.

What you'll bring:

  • Must successfully pass a Written Assessment (study guide provided in advance).

  • Preferred: Experience operating and maintaining CNC or PLC-controlled machinery.

  • Demonstrated ability to learn complex setup and operation of Thermal Spray systems (Plasma and HVOF).

  • Ability to understand and eventually perform diagnostic tests on Thermal Spray systems.

  • Capable of interpreting technical drawings and specifications related to electromechanical equipment.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to monitor and record equipment performance data accurately.

  • Must have a “Meets Expectations” or better on the most recent performance appraisal.

  • No disciplinary actions within the last 12 months.

  • Must meet current position time-in-role requirements.

What will make you stand out:

  • Prior experience in Coating or Flame Spray operations will be given strong consideration.

  • Documentation of relevant prior experience must be submitted with the application and will be evaluated by the hiring manager.

Pay Rate: The pay for this position is $27.871 - $229.144. This position is also eligible for shift premium when you work on an off shift i.e. 2nd or 3rd shift. Plus $1.00 USD an hour on top of base pay. This posting is expected to close on March 2nr, 2026.
