Join a fast-growing DevOps team shaping the future of Optical Networks (ON) at Ciena. This role accelerates the quality, stability, and speed of delivery for ON software releases by enhancing automation, workflows, and data-driven DevOps capabilities. With broad visibility and impact across hundreds of developers, this is an opportunity to innovate, solve complex problems, and influence the evolution of DevOps practices at Ciena.
 

How you will make an impact:

• Drive enhancements to Continuous Integration pipelines, tools, and designer workflows to improve software quality and stability.

• Implement automation solutions that increase speed, reliability, and scalability across ON development environments.

• Collaborate across geographies with software engineering, infrastructure, and tooling teams in an Agile environment.

• Integrate industry technologies—including Python, Jenkins, Git, Google Repo, and Gerrit—to streamline DevOps workflows.

• Optimize code integration processes to support rapid and predictable ON product releases.

• Apply data-driven approaches to improve system performance and identify areas for process innovation.

• Contribute to a problem-solving culture by identifying, triaging, and resolving DevOps challenges.
 

The must haves:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.

• 5+ years of experience in software development or tools development, ideally within Continuous Integration environments.

• Strong knowledge of the Git development environment and workflow.

• Experience with Jenkins, Python, Go/Yocto build environments.

• Proven communication skills, including inter-personal, written, and verbal.

• Hands-on experience building or maintaining development automation.

• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in Agile teams.

• Strong understanding of DevOps fundamentals.

Nice to haves:

• Familiarity with Bitbucket, Google Repo, Gerrit.

• Exposure to Angular, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, REST, SQL/NoSQL databases, Docker, and Ansible.

• Experience with DevSecOps practices.

• Understanding of AI-driven automation.

• Experience supporting large-scale software development organizations.

• Knowledge of Optical Networking concepts.
