Position Summary: 

The Support Services Worker works with and provides coverage for Environmental Services, Materials Management, Facilities/ Plant Operations, and Food and Nutrition teams.  As a Support Services team member, this position directly impacts the well-being and satisfaction of our patients, visitors, and staff by maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming healthcare environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • ServSafe Certification is required after 2 months of hire.
  • Driver’s License.
  • Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred: Previous experience in environmental services or support services work.

Essential Job Functions:

Environmental Services

  • Performs cleaning and sanitizing tasks and services, including wiping down countertops and other surfaces, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping.
  • Picks up and properly disposes of trash, as well as hazardous materials bags.
  • Restocking bathrooms and patient care areas with essential supplies.
  • Removes, collects, delivers, and organizes laundry as needed. Replaces laundry in patient care rooms. 

Materials Management

  • Assist the Materials team in the shipping and receiving functions of the hospital the overall handling of freight into the receiving area.
  • Inspects freight for damage and discrepancies on packing slips and ensures equipment delivered matches packing slip for receiving.
  • Responsible for packaging all outgoing shipments and documenting them accurately. Processes and coordinates receipts and discrepancies with Purchasing, Accounts Payable, and Distribution.
  • Manages supply levels in areas by monitoring, ordering, and restocking as necessary.

Facilities/ Plant Operations

  • Responsible for general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities, including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems. 
  • Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician. Examples may include repairing drywall, painting, and repairing doors and other building fixtures.
  • Performs routine maintenance on building systems and grounds (snow removal/yard work)
  • Cleans and assists with the upkeep of the facilities.
  • Maintains an attractive interior and exterior/landscaping environment.

Food and Nutrition

  • Responsible for food services for patients and occasional employee or community-related events. This includes food preparation, presentation, delivery, and pick-up.  
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, including daily cleaning tasks and regular deep cleaning.
  • Comply with all safety and health regulations, including the proper use of kitchen equipment and tools.
  • Performance of other duties as assigned.
