What is a Client Services Manager responsible for?

Responsible for managing activities associated with the onboarding and ongoing servicing of our clients. Partner with sales and distribution colleagues to ensure that their efforts can be focused on developing our client base. Work with other key stakeholders (Franklin Templeton and external suppliers) to ensure that the necessary processes are in place to deliver on client servicing responsibilities.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Client Services Manager?
 

Client Service oversight

  • Manage core suppliers to support delivery, ensuring maximum value in line with business deliverables (Northern Trust and Incremental).

  • Manage the workflow across the team to ensure BAU production and activities are met.

  • Oversight of the central mailbox, ensuring emails are allocated appropriately and responded within a reasonable timeframe.

  • Work with the Head of Distribution Services to manage priorities (outside of BAU) across the team.

  • Member of ESG Regulatory Working Group to assist in effecting any regulatory / legislative change as they arise.

 

Client servicing and reporting

  • Attend the regular AML group meetings.

  • Ensure all AML checks are completed as a client is onboarded in accordance with the group policy. Assume responsibility of the AML annual re-assessment process in accordance with the policy.

  • Responsible for the client reporting process ensuring that all parts of the business are fully aware of and committed to delivering their responsibilities.

  • Ensure that client reports are issued on a monthly / quarterly basis in accordance with agreed schedule.

  • Agree and communicate with Client Portfolio Managers (CPMs), any new servicing requirements and ensure that new requirements are implemented.

  • Ensure ESG and any new reporting is delivered and implemented.

  • Act as conduit with outsourced service provider to ensure delivery of required information.

  • Seek out and implement process improvements which will deliver a more efficient and effective process and/or end client experience.

  • Responsible for maintaining optimal CRM platform structure and architecture, ensuring it works seamlessly across the organisation and captures all required information at key points in the customer life cycle so reporting can be run.

  • Develop and maintain an efficient and effective process for providing a prompt, accurate and supportive assistance to end clients, including oversight of the central mailbox.

  • Create and update client presentations as and when required.

  • Oversee delivery of ‘standard’ materials (via Seismic) as required.

 

Transition management

  • Provide support and management of specific transition activities as required:

  • Co-ordinate internal teams and external providers to deliver as required.

  • Act as primary contact with client as required to understand, negotiate, and challenge their requirements as appropriate, liaising with internal teams as necessary to resolve any issues.

  • Monitor progress versus agreed timetable, escalating any potential slippage to relevant parties.

Other responsibilities

  • Ensure you are aware of, comply with and are an advocate and role model for all Martin Currie and Franklin Templeton Legal, Regulatory, Governance, Risk and Compliance obligations including understanding your personal responsibilities, obligations, record keeping and behaviours all the time.

  • Responsible for the day-to-day line management as appropriate including, but not limited to:

  • Ensuring any team members have clearly defined performance and development goals, in line with our strategic objectives.

  • Working in a creative, positive, and entrepreneurial way to achieve results.

  • Communicating clearly how product marketing will support channel sales plans.

  • Coaching and feedback is provided to other Product Specialists in collaborative manner.

  • Ongoing learning and development are central to conversations.

  • Regular assessment of performance and development and the delivery of constructive performance review conversations

  • Where appropriate recruitment, selection and upskilling of new hires to the team.

  • Role modelling and supporting our Company Values, Learning Culture Vision and team compliance with all risk and compliance policies.

  • Championing initiatives on behalf of Martin Currie within Franklin Templeton

What qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?

Education

  • Educated to degree level desirable though not essential.

Technical skills and experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in Financial Services/Investment Management

  • Knowledge and understanding of data and production processes.

  • Good communication skills – written and verbal.

  • An excellent understanding of Martin Currie’s business and clients

  • Client focused and Deadline driven.

  • Team player with strong levels of ownership and planning

  • Thorough, diligent, and compliant approach.

  • Foresight to anticipate issues, set priorities and proactively develop strong relationships both internally and externally.
