DoD SkillBridge Program Description:
As one of the largest global security companies in the world, Northrop Grumman is proud to help our nation’s military personnel navigate their next chapter into civilian careers. Approximately 20% of Northrop Grumman’s 100,000 employees self-identify as veterans, and more than 2,000 are reservists.
The Northrop Grumman DoD SkillBridge Program is an approved SkillBridge Program under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. The program is an opportunity for service members preparing for civilian careers to gain valuable civilian work experience during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. The DoD SkillBridge Program is open to all ranks and experience levels. DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from Northrop Grumman, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.
Responsibilities for DoD SkillBridge Program participation are:
Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman – DoD SkillBridge Program (DoD SkillBridge) utilizing the DoDI guidance for SkillBridge. Through this program, the service-member will work on site with their host company, gaining experience in an entry to mid-level career path. The service member will be on the job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. Outlined below are the Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program.
Goals – Provide separating service-members with job skills training in a professional setting during the final phase of their military service. This program is specifically designed to offer hands-on experience that result in the potential to convert to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training. Participants will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC.
Objectives - Service Members who complete the DoD SkillBridge program will be highly trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission “Defining Possible” on Day 1. This program provides comprehensive hands-on experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities.

DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:
Has served at least 180 days on active duty
Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
Will receive an honorable discharge
Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.

Job Description:
This role will serve as the Facility Security Officer (FSO) and Site Security Manager for the Spectrum Center campus, in San Diego managing the company’s industrial security program in accordance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) and related federal regulations. This role will also serve as the Business Unit (BU) Security Manager for the Secure Processing and Networks BU, under the Networked Integrated Connectivity Solutions Division (NICD). This role also includes financial management for labor charging and expense budgets, serving as the Cost Account Manager (CAM) for one security cost center with responsibility for emergency preparedness, crisis management, and contract uniformed security oversight. This position is an on-site position, operating out of the Spectrum Center campus, and direct reports to the NICD Division Security Director.
The FSO will ensure that all classified information is properly safeguarded, personnel security clearances are maintained, and the facility remains compliant with government security requirements. This role requires oversight of all security operations, including physical security, personnel security, and visitor control.
As the FSO/Security Manager, the candidate will be the primary security liaison between Northrop Grumman and the government customer. The selected candidate must be able to work collaboratively in a team environment with program management, program personnel, cyber security personnel, external security professionals, and contract security personnel. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of NISP regulations, experience with DISS, NISS, and the ability to guide and train staff in security protocols. This position also includes Emergency Preparedness / Contingency Planning responsibilities.

This position also represents Northrop Grumman with an array of critical U.S. government organizations, including the Defense Counterintelligence and Security Agency (DCSA), Air Force Office of Special Investigations Projects (AFOSI/PJ) and ensure that the Spectrum Center security team maintains a strong security compliance program. The selected candidate will direct activities that support a top-tier security program in the DoD collateral and Special Access Program environments and will provide guidance to assure compliance with applicable National Industrial Security Program and other security requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Active Top Secret clearance.
US Citizenship Required.
Must have prior Facility Security Officer (FSO) experience.
8 Years of Industrial Security/FSO experience with Bachelors; or 6 Years of industrial security/FSO experience with Masters; an additional 4 years of applicable work experience may be substituted for a Bachelors.
Comprehensive knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program and related training, FSO Certification from the Defense Counterintelligence & Security Agency (DCSA) (i.e. CDSE STEPP Courses).
Experience and familiarity with U.S. Government NISS/DISS systems.
Must have in-depth knowledge and demonstrated experience with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM)
Preferred Qualifications:
FSO Certification
Experience in program security, with knowledge of implementing a multi-disciplined security program (access control, personnel security, physical security, COMSEC, OPSEC etc.)
Familiarity with the DoD Manuals 5205.07 Volume 1-4, and ICDs, as well as other national level security directives.
Familiarity with Crisis Management programs
Previous experience in managing Special Access Programs.
Previous leadership and/or management experience.
