JOB OVERVIEW: 

The Senior Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for the flow of raw, work-in-process, and finished goods material through the processing facility. In addition, the Senior Inventory Control Specialist works hand-in-hand with the Production Manager, Production Supervisors, Leads, and the broader team as appropriate. This position requires exceptional organizational and detail-oriented skills, a proactive, problem-solving approach, and a firm grasp of the production process.  

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Collaborate with site leadership teams to develop efficient material flow throughout the facility.  

  • Coordinate with purchasing and logistics to optimize the shipping, receiving, and inventory control of frozen material.  

  • Complete inventory turns of all raw, work in process, and finished goods inventory as well as boxes, bags, etc.  

  • Maintain accurate inventory by conducting regular physical counts and reconciling variances.  

  • Ensure a continuous adequate supply of ingredients at the facility. 

  • Ensure the facility has adequate inventory levels of packaging and associated supplies or that sufficient levels of packaging supplies are in route.  

  • Responsible for material planning, including scheduling, processing, and inventory control.  

  • Responsible for material paperwork flow, ensuring accuracy with inventory, lot traceability, and shipping and receiving paperwork.  

  • Maintain and support updates to the ERP system at the production level and provide ongoing support to the plant personnel for efficient and accurate use of desktops and scanners.   

  • Develop and maintain proficiency with the ERP system at the production level.  

  • Follow-up on errors in paperwork and proactively work in reducing errors to ensure data accuracy. 

  • Regularly update, publish, and post metrics within the facility.  

  • Serve as a team member on weekly GEMBA walks within the plant.  

  • Collaborate in Continuous Improvement initiatives utilizing area of expertise. 

  • Participate in trials for new product development or packaging materials for the purpose of improving final product or reducing cost. 

  • Provide daily, bi-monthly, and quarterly updates to facility and operations leadership teams on production job closing status, inventory reconciliation, and supply status.  

JOB EXPERIENCE: 

  • 3+ years of inventory control related experience within a manufacturing industry. 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS: 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. 

  • Developed listening, verbal, and written communication skills.   

  • Strong interpersonal skills and judgment in effectively communicating with various teams.  

  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and maintain organization.  

  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.  

  • Receptive to management development suggestions and willing to seek additional knowledge to continue job growth. 

  • Must have a proactive and problem-solver approach and take initiative.  

  • Must have a strong customer service and team player orientation with a high sense of urgency in meeting objectives, deadlines, and finding resolutions.  

  • Must be tech-savvy and comfortable working on computer-related tasks, including ERP technology. 

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 

  • Bilingual in English & Spanish preferred. 

 

EDUCATION: 

  • Associates degree. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business Analytics or closely related field (preferred). 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • The ideal candidate must be able to complete all the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.  

  • Requires the ability to sit for long periods of time, with frequent interruptions. 

  • Requires several hours per day of sitting, getting up and down from chairs, and reaching, bending, or carrying light loads. 

  • Requires manual dexterity with normal hand and finger movements for typical office work. 

  • Talking, hearing, and seeing are important elements of completing assigned tasks. 

  • Occasionally lifts, carries, positions, or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds. 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • The working environment varies between a production facility and an office setting.
