In this role, you will lead capital and expense projects following the Suncor project execution model. You will be responsible to ensure that engineering, procurement, and construction activities are well coordinated to meet the objectives of every project.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Five or more years of related experience, preferably in various positions on large resource projects
  • Experience with industrial construction projects including supply chain cycle (bid review and award)
  • Professional Engineer designation and/or PMP certification
  • Ability to lead small to moderate sized cross functional project teams to execute each project scope safely, reliably, and efficiently
  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Non-authoritative leadership skills with the ability to influence effectively
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and SAP
  • Strong problem-solving and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe execution of projects under the occupational health and safety act and regulations for industrial establishments and construction projects, site safety standards and project processes
  • Oversee the integration of a multidisciplinary team for each project 
  • Accountable for delivering projects on-time and on-budget; projects will range in size from $1M to $20M
  • Interface directly with the refinery leadership team to acquire funding for projects
  • Apply project controls established by industry best practices
  • Support refinery inquiries regarding standards, records, specifications, and drawings
  • Provide project stewardship summaries
  • Interface directly with Suncor’s construction planning and execution team to ensure that all designs meet the needs identified in the project scope
  • Provide input into all design stages of the project including leading design reviews and ensuring HAZOPS are completed
  • Ensure completion of all project activities supporting a quality PSSR
  • Coordinate construction projects associated with turnarounds and major maintenance outages

Location and other key details:

  • You will work out of our Sarnia refinery in Ontario, located at 1900 St. Clair Parkway
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
