The Cardiac Monitor Tech job provides continuous observation, interpretation, documentation and communication of pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient cardiac rhythms. This role prepares and maintains telemetry records and maintains a functioning telemetry system.

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: N/A

Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment:
AHA BLS HCP Certification or equivalent preferred

Experience REQUIRED:
One (1) year Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant experience or a combination of science/healthcare education and/or patient-care related work experience that included arrhythmia interpretation.

Experience PREFERRED:
Academic health care Experience Preferred

Education/training REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or equivalent

Education/training PREFERRED:
Completion of Emergency Medical Technician, Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant Program

Independent action(s) required:
Functions under direction of RN in interpreting, documenting and reporting cardiac rhythms, maintaining and problem solving monitoring system; all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure.
Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor for time/schedule changes, legal issues, directed care which deviates from standard, and identification of educational resources to meet developmental needs.

Additional position requirements:
Cardiac Monitor Technicians work all three shifts, weekends and holidays.
Individual shift rotation and schedules will be established with your specific Nurse Manager/Practice Manager.
Schedules, including requirements of shift rotations and hours of work may be adjusted as necessary to meet staffing requirements or as is in the best interest of the work unit.
