Description -
We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer, in this position you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development of multiple software and hardware products and shape the direction of software development within our organization. You are seen as an influencer and must possess strong communication skills and the ability to distil complex ideas for general consumption. Successful candidates must operate across multiple disciplines, technologies, and frameworks in which the company must operate to build a cohesive portfolio of solutions.
You must be able to effectively lads large, cross-division functional teams with competing interests and goals. In this role, you will help shape the organization's long-term goals and objectives by combining business acumen and technical leadership to inform management decisions, identify risks and seek out opportunities. HP operates globally and across a wide range of highly regulated industries, requiring software development rigor, secure development practices, and a commitment to strong quality controls; your input will shape the direction of software development across multiple projects and development domains.
This role is recognized authority on relevant subject matter knowledge including technologies, theories and techniques. Contributes to the development of innovative principles and ideas. Successfully operates in the most complex disciplines, in which the company must operate to be successful. Provides highly innovative solutions. May participate in cross-division, multi-function teams. Provides mentoring and guidance to lower level employees. Routinely exercises independent judgment in developing methods, techniques and criteria for achieving objectives. Develops strategy and sets functional policy and direction.

Responsibilities
• Plays a critical role in building of various software development projects and platforms while aligning them with business and security strategies and requirements.
• Leads the building of standards, designs, and automates the deployment of software.
• Designs and develops solutions that protect and manage software products and data.
• Drives technology strategy and engineering roadmaps around software engineering.
• Assists supervisors with project development, including documentation of features, recording of progress, and creation of the testing plan.
• Converts business concepts into the next generation of applications and tools, utilizing adaptive agile methodologies to deliver a minimal viable product to the business.
• Assists in scheduling, determining manpower requirements, and estimating costs to project completion in order to meet user requirements.
• Contributes innovative ideas and may lead large cross-functional teams, exercising independent judgment to solve unique and complex problems impacting the business.
• Acts as a functional manager within area of expertise, developing strategy and setting functional policy and direction.
• Provides mentorship and guidance to lower-level employees.
Development of key services and frameworks for modules in the personal system software ecosystem
Education & Experience
• Four-year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
• Typically has 10+ years of work experience, preferably in software designing & development, software architecture, programming languages, or a related field.
•Hands on experience working with WMI interfaces and development with C++ with .Net technologies
• Experience with Windows NT services and Windows drivers preferred

The base pay range for this role is $137,000 to $211,000 annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to US candidates only). Pay varies by work location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
