Northrop Grumman Defense System is seeking a Weight Handling Maintenance, Material, and Test Coordinator (WTC)/Calibration Control Point (CCP) to join our team in Yorktown, VA to support the U.S. Navy's Mk48 Heavyweight Torpedo program.

What you’ll Get to Do:

  • Responsible for maintaining all physical weight test records, weight handling equipment inventories, issue, receive, pick up and drop off inspection measuring and test equipment (IM&TE)
  • Schedule the timely test and re-certification of all equipment and will maintain the Weight Handling/Ordnance Handling (WHE/OHE) database and the Met Bench Calibration Management System (MCMS)
  • Schedule all necessary preventative or corrective maintenance with NAVFAC MIDLANT as required, submit monthly calibration recall reports to the customer and ensure that expired IM&TE is not left in any work center
  • Conduct and submit annual weight handling equipment inventory to PHS&T
  • Reviews production schedules and confers with the customer to determine material required for maintenance and arranges for work center transfer of material to meet production schedules
  • Confer with the customer for repair and replacement of material
  • Recall any IM&TE that has been dropped, damaged, broken or missing seals, or coming due for calibration 
  • Issue only serviceable and undamaged calibrated IM&TE to work centers 
  • Verify when receiving IM&TE from calibration labs that all hardware is present and undamaged, devices are calibrated and properly labeled, seals are in place and intact and calibration records match hardware and receipt documentation
  • Conduct a quarterly 10% inventory of IM&TE and weight handling equipment
  • Conduct a yearly 100% inventory of all IM&TE
  • Routinely use and be exposed to hazardous materials in the conduct of maintenance operations i.e. hydraulic fluid, OTTO II Fuel
  • Conduct routine Ordnance Handling Evolutions within the facility using specific designed equipment.
  • Perform all work in a strict procedural compliant manner

Basic qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 year’s additional education and/or related experience
  • Ability to meet annual screening per OPNAV 5530/1 {Report of Screening for Personnel Assigned AA&E Security Related Duties). Items checked include, but not limited to, Criminal History Record Information, Foreign influence, Financial History, Emotional and mental Disorders
  • Demonstrated work experience using common hand tools, measuring devices such as calipers and micrometers, and basic electronic equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers)
  • Ability to pass a physical exam for an Explosive Handler position/Department of Transportation (DOT) Explosive Driver
  • Ability to lift equipment up to 45 lbs
  • Ability to qualify as a Category III Crane Operator
  • Previous experience with working on Electrostatic sensitive equipment using ESD controls
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment such as steel toe shoes, face shield, goggles, protective suit and a variety of gloves
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Access)
  • US Citizenship with current Interim Secret Security Clearance

Preferred qualifications:

  • 4+ years of related experience in the MK48 Heavyweight Torpedo program or similar Ordnance programs through the military
  • Experience and knowledge on calibrated equipment (torque wrenches, gauges and electronics)
  • Military Explosive Handler Qualifications

Salary Range: $26.00 - $28.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
