The Opportunity

Our Office of Ethics & Compliance (OEC) has an exciting opportunity for an Ethics & Compliance Manager supporting Abbott’s Neuromodulation Division located in Austin, TX.

What You’ll Work On

In this role, you will provide direct oversight for the basic elements of Abbott's compliance program in support of the Neuromodulation Business Unit. Additionally, you will be responsible for the ongoing development and implementation of the OEC education, training, and divisional monitoring. Abbott’s Neuromodulation Business Unit is part of Abbott’s Medical Device family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry-leading technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Partners with all levels of business unit personnel to provide OEC and divisional policy interpretation and requirements, compliance risk assessment, trend analysis and best practice recommendations.
  • Conducts policy and procedure reviews and updates related to OEC policy and divisional procedures ensuring clarity, applicability, and compliance.
  • Develops, delivers and updates OEC’s comprehensive training program on OEC and divisional policies and procedures and Abbott's Code of Business Conduct
  • Develops, implements, and modifies divisional monitoring plan to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Assists Director on compliance audits, evaluating and responding to all moderately complex preliminary findings and recommendations, guides the business in preparing corrective action to address findings and recommendations and ensures timely completion.
  • Assists Director in leading and participating in compliance review meetings with business management and provides input on compliance violation process. Oversees the tracking and trending and proposes recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Provides guidance on proposed commercial programs, identifies legal and regulatory issues, analyzes alternatives, and works with Director, as appropriate, to offer solutions to the business.
  • Maintaining strong relationships with key divisional leaders through understanding the business objectives and priorities
  • Possesses solid knowledge of the Neuromodulation Business Unit and knowledge of the broader Medical Device Division, leveraging this knowledge to provide recommendations and guidance to key divisional leaders.
  • Willingness to take ownership over compliance activities and provide input on compliance process enhancements.
  • Ability to identify compliance risk areas and recommend appropriate mitigation actions.
  • May have direct reports with people management responsibility.
  • Assists in selecting, recruiting, onboarding or otherwise training other OEC team members.

Position/Accountability Scope:

• Accountable to the Compliance Director for Neuromodulation

• Directly support the US Neuromodulation Business Unit, with indirect support to other business units

• Operates independently within clear expectations, checking in as necessary with supervisor(s)

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

  • BA/BS required.
  • Minimum of 4-8 years’ experience with, or exposure to, business functions such as compliance, legal, regulatory affairs, government affairs, and finance.
  • Experience developing and implementing compliance programs, including policy definition and monitoring.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite including but not limited to Excel file management, PowerPoint presentations.
  • Must have strong written and verbal skills and an ability to effectively communicate with colleagues at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA, Masters, JD, or equivalent compliance focused work experience
  • Regulatory Experience – Any US Government Regulated Industry (FDA, Hospitals, Medicare, Medicaid, Any industry with direct patient care)
  • Experience with Medicare/Medicaid compliance or Private Payer Reimbursement • Experience with data analytics

The base pay for this position is

$95,000.00 – $190,000.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
