Salary Range:

$196,000.00 - $254,000.00

What’s the role?  

As Etsy’s first Design Program Manager, you will be responsible for setting the vision and driving operational excellence for our Product Design team. This role will work with design leaders, our team, and stakeholders to define and manage priorities for the org and the operating model to support them. We’re looking for an individual with a strong vision, passion for customers, and the ability to help us elevate our product experiences across all of Etsy.


This is a full-time position reporting to the VP of Design. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. 

For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub or in the San Francisco Bay Area may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Operational Excellence: Establish a design operating rhythm with predictable, repeatable processes that help design leaders and partners deliver the best in class customer experiences to Etsy’s buyers and sellers. 

  • Strategic Support: Support and manage select strategic projects, ensuring alignment across design teams and partners on goals, plans, and deliverables.

  • Design Systems: Collaborate with design leaders and teams to adopt and leverage design systems and guidelines, supporting the development and management of best practices and design team assets.

  • Professional Development: Promote the growth and development of the design team through targeted training programs and mentorship opportunities, cultivating a culture of continuous learning, improvement, and commitment to craft.

  • Community and Culture: Initiate and establish new programs to drive broader and deeper engagement across the design team and creative community, including contributing to building team culture, and organizing design team touch points and in-person gatherings.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

  • 8+ years of experience in program management, specifically leading complex design or creative projects in a technology-driven environment.

  • Deep understanding of the product design process, and how to collaborate with partners (Product, Engineering, Marketing) across the product development lifecycle.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, drive clarity, operate with creativity, and deliver results.

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with experience presenting to and collaborating with senior leadership.
