Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life by designing and providing device and management solutions for treating structural heart disease.

As the Dorector of Marketing- TAVI, located in Santa Clara, CA or Plymouth, MN, you will be responsible for setting the Division’s strategic direction and tactical implementation of full life-cycle activities for your assigned market segment.

What You’ll Work On

The US Director of Marketing is the core marketing owner and driver of the success for the Abbott, Structural Heart, TAVI portfolio. This is a general management and team leadership role that requires Marketing strategy development and oversight while contributing to and influencing all facets of Sales and Marketing within the division including: Forecasting, Financial and Marketing Plan Development, Sales Materials and Training, Pricing, Materials Management, Business Development, and New Product Development and Introduction. 

The US TAVI Group Manager shall maintain US product/ solutions/ clinical applications expertise for products/franchises, including market sizes/trend share, customer needs and targeting, product performance/benefits/weaknesses/positioning. The Director shall provide on-going support of new product/ solutions/ clinical applications development including customer requirements definition, product concept validation, financial analysis, and securing Business Unit commitment through market launch.

This role will be one of three group managers in our Structural Heart portfolio representing our key focus areas in TAVI, Mitral and Tricuspid Therapies, and Surgical Solutions.  This role will be expected to collaborate effectively with these functions to identify synergies, best practices and elevation of the marketing teams output and effectiveness.  In addition, this role will need to collaborate with our TAVI Global Marketing teams to execute on global initiatives and messaging while influencing the global message as the largest stakeholder in the global TAVI opportunity.

The US Director will ultimately be responsible for creating demand for ABT TAVI products and creating tools to support the annual US Commercial sales plan.  The marketing plan includes, but is not limited to, the following areas of responsibilities:

  • Implementation of strategy, scope, process and programs related to creating demand for the Division's products within assigned market segment.
  • Providing significant and positive impact to short-term, mid-range and long-term organizational goals.
  • Demonstrating continual improvement in product/system development and commercial-related matters.
  • Business expansion, competition and positioning, scientific and promotional tool creation, internal communication, external communication and product definition.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert (SME) and primary interface for internal and external customers and partners.
  • Lead and / or participate on cross-functional team to support organizational goals.
  • Develop and lead staff of brand and product managers.
  • Responsible for all people-management activities including but not limited to:
    • Staff development, mentoring, performance management, engagement and recognition, administrative duties.
  • Creating a work environment that supports cross-functional team effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated appropriate level of leadership experience to lead and influence.
  • Deliver on assigned goals on time and within budget.
  • Understand and comply with applicable EHS policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the Quality System.
  • Travel up to 33% of the time domestically and / or internationally by any means necessary to support organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
  • MBA or Master’s degree is preferred
  • 10+ years of experience with or exposure to sales and/or marketing in the following areas: healthcare, medical devices, or medical diagnostics to develop the competence required to meet the skills and responsibilities of the position
  • Possess understanding of the technology and capabilities of the Division's products
  • Strong understanding of market and customer dynamics and understanding of sales processes
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting medical devices/diagnostics
  • Ability to develop, rationalize and present strategy
  • Strong managerial skills relative to time, budget and people
  • Can work independently, in groups, and cross-functionally
  • Ability to apply analytical thinking, problem-solving skills and critical-thinking skills
  • Comfortable to make decisions where there are competing demands
  • Clearly, concisely and accurately communicates whether verbal, written or in presentations
  • Strong aptitude to use various types of databases and other computer software

The base pay for this position is

$149,300.00 – $298,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
