Job Description
Overview: The Career Services Student Intern will play a pivotal role in enhancing the offerings and reach of the Career Services Office. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience in career development, marketing, and data analysis while contributing to the success of their peers.
Key Responsibilities of the Career Services Intern #2:
Enhance Handshake Utilization:
- Improve the use of the Handshake Job Search program available through career services.
- Develop and implement strategies to promote the software among current students and alumni.
Data Management:
- Create and edit spreadsheets and databases, converting obsolete formats into more functional and efficient formats.
- Ensure all data is up-to-date, accurate, and easily accessible for career services staff.
Marketing and Promotion:
- Design and create engaging promotional material for the Career Services Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), Handshake, and Instagram pages.
- Develop content calendars and campaigns to increase awareness and participation in career services events and initiatives.
Collaboration and Outreach:
- Work closely with the director and other departments to promote career services initiatives and events across campus and within the community.
- Assist in the planning and execution of collaborative events that enhance student career development.
Industry and Market Research:
- Conduct research on industry trends, job market demands, and career development best practices.
- Share findings with the career services team to inform program development and service improvement.
Student Perspective and Resource Development:
- Research and provide advice and new resources to the career services director from a student’s perspective.
- Identify and recommend tools and resources that would be beneficial to the student body.
Survey Administration and Analysis:
- Conduct surveys of the current student body and graduates to gather data on first destination or employment success outcomes.
- Analyze survey results and provide insights to inform career services strategies and programs.
Support and Administrative Tasks:
- Perform support tasks as needed to ensure the smooth operation and improvement of services offered through the career services department.
- Assist in the preparation and organization of career development workshops and events.
Technical Proficiency:
- Utilize Microsoft 365 Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite to complete tasks efficiently.
- Continuously improve technical skills to support career services functions.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled student in good academic standing.
- Strong interest in career development and student services.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Creativity and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
