SENIOR ASSOCIATE IMPORT/EXPORT

WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Senior Associate Import/Export will be managing the operational import and export activities to support the Global Trade and Compliance Excellence team. By working within established trade compliance policies and procedures, this role is a liaison between internal shipping requestors, vendors and brokers to facilitate shipments crossing customs borders.
Responsibilities:
Partner internally and externally to manage inbound/outbound customs transactions by collaborating closely with internal and external requestors, the Amgen transportation team, brokers, and government agencies.
Provide expertise and advice on international Customs and Other Government Agency (OGA) import/export requirements.
Determine commodity classification for transactions.
Review shipping documentation and customs invoices for accuracy including valuation, commodity classification, and country of origin.
Provide support for acquiring applicable shipment permits and licenses.
Resolve transaction issues including response to Customs/OGA inquiries and delays.
Optimally liaise with government agencies, as required.
Collect and report on key transactional performance metrics.
Support the establishment, documentation, and periodic update of trade compliance processes and procedures.

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU
Basic Qualifications:
Master’s degree OR
Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of Trade Compliance experience OR
Associates degree and 6 years of Trade Compliance experience OR
High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Trade Compliance experience
Preferred Qualifications:
4+ years of experience in Trade Compliance or Import/Export operations
Licensed Customs Broker or Customs Certification
Understanding of International Customs and World Trade Organization Regulations
Excellent oral and written communication, facilitation, collaboration, and executive presentation skills
Must be multi-lingual (i.e. Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, and English)
