As a key member of our APAC regional Marketing and Business Development (M&BD) team, the successful candidate will work in the Hong Kong office, supporting the Greater China Corporate & Finance practice by providing expertise towards the development and implementation of M&BD plans.

This is a hands-on role offering direct involvement in strategic pitching, legal directory submissions, high-profile event coordination, and both internal and external communications. It also encompasses initiatives to strengthen practice visibility and deepen client relationships across the Corporate & Finance landscape, including banking & finance, M&A, private equity, investment funds, capital markets, and restructuring & special situations.

The role also involves working closely with M&BD colleagues across other practice areas to identify cross-practice opportunities, enhance collaboration, and deliver integrated client solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES

The candidate will report to the Marketing & Business Development Manager based in Hong Kong, with ultimate accountability to the Regional Head of Business Development.

The successful candidate will collaborate closely with local, regional, and global M&BD teams to support all facets of the business development and marketing function, including:

  • Business Proposals and Capability Statements in Chinese and English – A core focus of the role involves drafting and managing bilingual proposals, credentials, and presentations. The candidate will work closely with the M&BD Manager and partners to support the business needs of the Greater China offices, ensuring high-quality, client-focused materials that reflect the firm’s Corporate & Finance expertise.
  • Collateral Management - Maintain and update a comprehensive suite of marketing materials—including office and practice profiles, lawyer bios, and PowerPoint decks—in both Chinese and English, tailored to the Corporate & Finance practice areas.
  • Information Maintenance - Ensure key systems (e.g. credentials and experience databases, CV library, photo archive, website, InterAction) are accurate and current, supporting seamless access to marketing and BD assets across APAC.
  • Directory and Award Submissions – Coordinate submissions for legal directories, league tables, and awards to elevate the firm’s visibility and reputation in the Corporate & Finance space. This includes managing interviews and liaising with partners and researchers.
  • Event/Webinar Management – Plan and execute a wide range of events, from client seminars and industry panels to social receptions and virtual webinars, aligned with strategic BD goals and partner priorities.
  • Client Management - Support the M&BD Manager in delivering the regional client development programme, including client targeting, relationship mapping, and post-event follow-up.
  • External and Internal Communications – Collaborate with the M&BD and Communications teams to produce impactful client-facing content such as deal announcements, client alerts, and thought leadership pieces relevant to Corporate & Finance.
  • Ad-hoc projects - Contribute to special initiatives including market research, client intelligence, and industry analysis to support strategic planning and BD campaigns.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably with an emphasis in business administration, marketing or law
  • 1- 3 years of experience in business development and marketing, preferably in a professional services environment
  • Excellent personal communication skills and strong organizational abilities
  • High attention to detail, including exceptional proofreading skills
  • Ability to perform under pressure, independently, and as part of a team
  • Consistent positive attitude with a "can do" mentality
  • Proven discretion and trust in dealing with confidential and sensitive information
  • Advanced PC skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and ability to learn new IT skills such as InterAction, iPublish, pitch system, and other database systems
  • Fluency in spoken English and Mandarin, with strong written skills in both English and Chinese - essential for supporting Greater China and regional initiatives
