Job Purpose:

Our Roll Clamp Operator will be responsible for the safe and accurate operation of roll clamp equipped industrial vehicles to transport, stage, load, and unload paper rolls in support of production operations. This role focuses on material protection, safety compliance, and effective collaboration with production teams. Skill progression is based on consistency, judgment, and teamwork, not supervisory or mechanical responsibility.

Job Responsibilities:

● Operate roll clamp equipped industrial vehicles safely and in accordance with site procedures, safety rules, and manufacturer guidelines.
● Transport, stage, load, and position paper rolls accurately to support production schedules and minimize downtime.
● Maintain roll stability and control during all movements to protect material quality and prevent damage.
● Perform required pre use equipment inspections and follow PPE, traffic, and pedestrian safety requirements at all times.
● Communicate clearly with machine operators, material handlers, and supervisors regarding roll availability, delays, or workflow impacts.
● Identify visible roll damage, irregularities, unsafe conditions, or near misses and escalate concerns promptly.
● Complete required material movement, inspection, and documentation accurately and on time.
● Maintain clean, organized roll storage areas, travel paths, and staging zones in support of 5S and workplace standards.

Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:

● Maintain situational awareness and make sound judgments in active production and high traffic environments.
● Read and interpret roll labels, staging instructions, and production priorities.
● Collaborate effectively with peers, machine operators, and supervisors to support production flow.
● Ability to follow established procedures, escalate issues appropriately, and avoid unauthorized equipment adjustments.

Work Experience:

● 3-5 years of related job experience.

● The ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.

Education:

● High School Diploma/GED Preferred

Working Conditions:
The work environment for this position requires:
● Regularly working in a non-climate-controlled warehouse where exposure to cold, heat, damp or humid conditions may occur.
● Exposure to loud noise.
● Exposure to dust, mechanical hazards, moving objects, and moving vehicles.

Physical Requirements:
The physical requirements listed below are representative of those needed to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. 
● Ability to lift, twist and carry up 50 - 75 pounds, manipulate (push and pull) up to 160 pounds of product with material handling equipment and skids weighing up to 2,000 pounds utilizing pallet jack.
● Walking/Standing - walk throughout the warehouse to complete customer orders. Stand when operating order picker or reach truck equipment and when operating cutter.
● Sitting - sit only when driving sit-down material handling equipment.  
● Lifting - lift items weighing a few ounces up to 150 pounds with assistance .
● Stooping - performed when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations. May bend at the waist.
● Kneeling -  kneel when filling orders or putting away products assigned to floor level locations.
