Summary:

Under the direction of the Production Control Manager, the Production Planner prepares the production forecast and Master Production Schedule. Tracks and communicates order status, lead time and capacity guidelines.  Maintains capacity management and creates plans.  Works closely with Inventory management in planning and scheduling raw material and production requirements to ensure actual production is in balance with customer demand.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for the safety of employees and self.
  • Publish and maintain Capacity Reporting. 
  • Monitor progress of production orders to resolve problems affecting production schedules and expedite the flow of material.
  • Estimate lead times for new orders and/or quotation purposes.
  • Estimate capacity constraints and work load in various work centers. 
  • Work with department managers to balance the work load and resources in order to meet customer demand.
  • Lead/facilitate department team efforts to solve and standardize procedures.
  • Coordinate with inventory control to ensure proper inventory levels are maintained to enable manufacturing to meet master production schedules and ensure on time delivery.
  • Communicate changes in schedules and respond to order status updates.
  • Participate in daily meetings (“MDI”) to provide status updates related to production orders.
  • Estimate capacity constraints and work load in various work centers.
  • Serve as a Liaison between Operations and Sales/Marketing. Work with Sales/Marketing to gather current and historical customer demand data to support logical decision making.
  • Maintains close communication and relationships with vendors that perform outside processing steps.
  • Communicates priorities and monitors on-time status of operations awaiting completion at the vendors.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:  Requires a B.S. degree in the following, Operations/Production Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Business Management or a related field or equivalent experience required. Five or more years of progressively responsible production and inventory planning related experience with a working knowledge of Master Production Schedule systems


 

The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
