Job Description:

About the Role

You will provide mentoring and leadership to the Nursing Team at Normanby Unit, as well as support the NUM in managing the professional and operational resources of the facility. Bring a strong clinical skillset and excellent communication skills to deliver exceptional patient-focused service and engage patients, families and colleagues with courtesy, consideration and sensitivity.

  • Lead, coordinate and provide efficient and effective resource management to achieve optimum resident outcomes
  • Deputise for the NUM
  • Plan inpatient care in line with the Mental Health Act 2014 and clinical standards and values of the organisation
  • Support the NUM with the daily running of the ward including bed management, staff management and attending relevant meetings
  • Act as a clinical role model by providing the highest standard of direct patient care
  • Implement and support organisational change as directed by the Nurse Unit Manager
  • Ensure incidents are accurately documented and investigated

Classifications for this position will range from NP83 to NP74 ($108,435 – $112,091 per annum pro rata)

Your Contribution

  • Degree in Nursing
  • Current AHPRA Registration
  • Leadership qualities with proven ability to direct, enthuse and encourage a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience in conflict management / negotiations
  • Demonstrated ability to assist and support change
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including sound oral and writing skills
  • Ability to organise and work to schedules to achieve the best outcomes for residents
  • Well-developed understanding of Mental Health Act 2014 and relevant legislation of the principles and practice of aged psychiatry
  • Current National Criminal History Check, or willing to obtain

Normanby Unit is a 20-bed acute admission and assessment unit in Kew, caring for people with psychiatric illness over the age of 65.The patients are caring by a skilled and compassionate multidisciplinary team.
