4 East is a complex and fast paced 33 bed Medical Surgical unit that specializes in the care of oncology patients. Our goal on 4 East is to provide exceptional nursing care with a caring and compassionate focus while allowing the patients their dignity during their stay with us. We take a holistic approach to our care not only to include the patient, but the family, and other care givers to the patient as well. We collaborate with other departments using a multidisciplinary approach to ensure that our patients get the best, most efficient, and quality care. Our nurses have the opportunity and are encouraged to become chemotherapy certified as well as obtain other national certifications such a medical surgical and oncology nurse certification. Registered professional nurse who assesses, implements or delegates, plans, and evaluates total nursing care and functions in accordance with established philosophy, providing and directing patient care for a group of patients. Relates effectively with other shifts/departments for optimal continuity of care.
Qualifications:
-Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing
-Valid Texas LVN License/Eligible Compact License
-Must maintain a current BLS certification from American Heart Association
-Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) or Med-surg certification preferred and encouraged
-Chemo certification preferred and encouraged
