Management Company Controller
Jain Global is an innovative multi-strategy investment firm founded in July 2024 by Bobby Jain with over 400 employees operating from offices in New York, Houston, London, Singapore, and Hong Kong, we are looking to add to our growing teams.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Management Company Controller will oversee all accounting and financial operations of the global management companies, with primary responsibility for the US management company. This role is central to managing the firm’s pass-through expense structure, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining a strong control environment, and driving automation and process efficiency within Workday.
The ideal candidate brings a deep controller background combined with hands-on experience leveraging ERP systems to streamline workflows, enhance transparency, and scale finance operations in a high-growth asset management environment.
Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the US management company accounting function, including ownership of the general ledger in Workday and management of outsourced accounting providers.
Own the month-end close process, including accounts payable, payroll, cash management, accruals, analytical review of management packs and regulatory reporting processes.
Lead the automation of accounting workflows within Workday, including the design and build-out of allocation methodologies to support the firm’s pass-through expense structure.
Build expense forecasting within Workday Adaptive. Review expense budgets versus actuals and improve the quality and usability of management reporting for senior stakeholders.
Support audits, financial statement preparation, and coordination with tax and compliance teams globally.
Partner with fund accounting to design and implement scalable expense management and allocation process between management companies and funds.
Drive continuous process improvement initiatives, leveraging technology and automation to reduce manual effort and strengthen controls.
Qualifications & Experience:
7-12+ years of relevant accounting/finance experience, including experience managing teams.
Hedge fund or asset management experience preferred.
Certified Public Accountant (or equivalent designation) and public/private accounting is preferred
Knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS
Experience with Workday Financials, Workday Adaptive or a similar ERP is preferred
Demonstrated focus on controls, process discipline, and high-quality financial reporting
Ability to work at a high-growth firm in a fast-paced environment
Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with a wide range of departments and offices, including UK and Asia.
Experience building technology tools/coding a plus.
