As a Product Development Engineer, you will be responsible for the localization of production parts. Your main objectives are to ensure the delivery, quality, and compliance of the local parts, as well as to achieve cost saving and local content legislation requirements. You cooperate and communicate with the global engineering team and the local suppliers to implement technical alterations and engineering changes in a timely and efficient manner. You also support other departments for supplier audits and follow up on corrective and preventive actions. Additionally, you provide technical support to other internal departments and local partners.
Key accountabilities:
Responsible for certain commodities management within the product development function. (Soft trim, Hard trim)
Validate and approve Local Design Concept Sheet (LDCS) for responsibility commodities with NML related functions to confirm localization scope.
Supervise the activity of the Request for Quotation (RFQ) to the original and local suppliers to collect Technical Assistance Agreements (TAA), Vendor Tooling (VT) and component parts (UCKD) Quotation to prepare Localization proposal plans (LPP) and confirm the feasibility study for the responsibility commodities candidate localized parts.
Assess and choose candidate supplier based on QCDDM matrix (Quality, Cost, development, Delivery and Management) along with purchasing manager and Supplier quality development (SQD) manager.
Confirm and validate the buyoff reports for the vendor tooling to assure that the tools are manufactured according to the required specs & design.
Validate the parts design changes by executing the local parts design change procedure depending on Design Notes to ensure sustainability of the production plan.
Manage any updates and maintain the 3/9 list for all locally produced models to confirm the impact on the Bill of Material (BOM) list
Propose original and local supplier tools specs through tool specification sheet “TSS” to confirm the compliance of the tool design and specs with the local part requirements to proceed into tool manufacturing.
Provides consultation and support in solving local supplier tool problems while production to maintain regular delivery and prevent line stoppage.
Handle the vendor tooling list with finance department and coordinate physical counts.
Manage Vendor tooling with local suppliers and confirm maintaining the appropriate storage conditions, preventive maintenance plans achievement and collection to NMEG after “EOP” End of Production.
Qualifications & relevant experience:
Bachelor of Science in relevant engineering degree
3-4 years of experience in Engineering field
