Job Description

Under general supervision, the Graphic Designer designs electronic and printed materials, exhibit elements, and/or illustrations for various university publications, displays, and other media at Campbellsville University (CU).

Responsibilities:

- Conceptualize, design, and produce curriculum training and/or promotional materials such as flyers, ads, brochures, logos, office signage, exhibits, and/or displays.
- Write and edit primary copy for the above materials.
- Design and produce camera-ready art, including graphs, charts, clip art, posters, digitization of graphics, line art, and/or photos.
- Create electronically designed page layouts and import word processing files into these layouts as needed. May develop and produce web-based graphics upon request.
- Produce technical and scientific illustrations for presentations and/or publications as required.
- Consult with faculty and staff to identify their graphics needs, budget constraints, and reasonable project deadlines. Serve as a liaison between the client and printers/publishers.

Skills/Qualifications:

- Education: High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- Substitution: Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Graphic Design Principles: Understanding of graphic design principles and practices.
- Media and Equipment: Ability to create and produce graphic materials using a range of media methods, techniques, and equipment.
- Communication: Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Graphic Layout and Photographic Requirements: Knowledge of graphic layout and photographic procedures, including programming and operating reprographic equipment.
- Computerized Graphic Design: Skills in utilizing specified computerized graphic design software and programs.
- Interpretive Illustrations: Ability to analyze graphic and technical information and create interpretive illustrations.
- Printing Procedures: Knowledge of printing procedures and requirements.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
- User Graphic Requirements Analysis: Ability to analyze and interpret user graphic requirements.
- Print/Reproduction Specifications: Ability to develop print and/or reproduction specifications.
