VCU Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to join the pediatric acute care team at the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU (CHoR). This role provides clinical pharmacy services to general acute care pediatric units, supporting children with a wide range of medical conditions in a collaborative, care team focused on family-centered care. As part of CHoR’s nationally ranked pediatric hospital, the pharmacy specialist will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to optimize medication therapy, improve patient outcomes, and contribute to the academic and clinical mission of VCU Health.
The Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU is a nationally ranked, full-service pediatric hospital offering care across more than 50 specialties. Located in downtown Richmond, CHoR includes:

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver direct clinical pharmacy services to pediatric patients in general acute care units.
Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds and provide evidence-based pharmacotherapy recommendations.
Monitor and adjust medication therapy for safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness.
Educate patients, families, and health care providers on medication use and safety.
Precept pharmacy residents and students.
Develop and implement clinical protocols, guidelines, and quality improvement initiatives.
Support CHoR’s commitment to family-centered care, engaging families in shared decision-making.
Required Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an ACPE-accredited institution.
Completion of a PGY1 Pharmacy Residency (required) and PGY2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency (preferred). Equivalent pediatric clinical experience may be considered.
Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a pharmacist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Board Certification in Pediatric Pharmacy (BCPPS) preferred or obtained within 1 year of hire.
Strong clinical knowledge in pediatric pharmacotherapy and excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a pediatric academic medical center or children’s hospital.
Involvement in professional pharmacy or pediatric health care organizations.
Demonstrated leadership in clinical practice, education, or research.
