Job Summary
Summary: Responsible for facilitating the successful delivery of services to patients and family members of various languages.
Qualifications
Essential Functions -Serve as a mediator, as necessary and when appropriate, to enhance communication between staff and patients/family as it relates to medical care and adhere to the standard code of ethics for medical interpreters.
-Keep accurate documentation of interpretation encounters to include relevant data such as location, duration, and purpose.
-Provides coordination and staff training on the use of the telephone language interpretation services (and relevant equipment).
-Answer calls promptly and conduct interpretation in a friendly and professional manner.
-Function in a manner appropriate to each interpreted situation, demonstrating professional appearance, conduct, and promptness.
-Adheres to standard code of ethics for medical interpreters.
-Assisting with appointment reminders, rescheduling, and, in some cases, scheduling, coordinating, or dispatching interpreters for assignments.
-Helping LEP patients navigate the hospital, including finding departments, understanding administrative forms and connecting with social services.
-Placing outbound calls to scheduled patients to confirm appointment dates & times.
-May be required to take on-call requests to be available for emergencies at night and on weekends.

High School Diploma or Equivalent required

Experience
Healthcare and/or medical interpreting experience 2-3 years preferred
