Job Title: Senior Commercial Pricing Consultant

Salary: £60,000 – £70,000 (depending on experience)

Location: Peterborough, Cambridgeshire.

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. The role will support sustainable growth for the business working closely with other peers across the organisation.  Develops complex pricing strategies within a large and varied product portfolio and gets involved in strategy development and mentor junior team members. 

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with solution owners and partners; competitive intelligence & sales teams, Product Managers and Operations partners, to provide strategic pricing solutions designed to maximise product value and price.

  • Conducting data analysis to articulate defendable points of view on key pricing areas, pricing capabilities, price models, price setting, price realisation and bundling.

  • Responsibility for in depth financial modelling of all pricing initiatives.

  • Work with financial and pricing models used to analyse market opportunities and complete quotes that provide input to standard and nonstandard growth opportunities.

  • Analyses sales, margin and profit performance and interprets customer and competitor behaviour to provide guidance and recommendations for strategic pricing.

  • Utilises VOC and competitive research (engaged with internal market intelligence resources) to determine market pricing.

  • Leads the development of pricing strategies for highly integrated, bundled solutions bringing value to both the customers and the business

  • Performing analysis to identify current pricing and sales performance validating price opportunities for all sales channels

  • Adapts documents and presentations for the intended audience.

  • Assists in creating an incentive plan to encourage new business growth and development

  • Supports the development and execution of a commercial growth strategy for the IPSD-Medium external business, both the Cat and Perkins brands

What You Have:

  • Skills will have been learned through exposure and experience within commercial, sales, finance or pricing roles

Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
Level Extensive Experience

Customer Focus: Knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
Level Extensive Experience:

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Level Extensive Experience:

Value Selling: Knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.
Level Working Knowledge:

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and data to reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Level Extensive Experience:

Top candidates may demonstrate some of the following:

  • Previous exposure working in a business selling advanced technology products, technology and services; ability to articulate overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.

  • Demonstrated experience translating complex data and analyses into high-level strategic insights and recommendations is a must

  • Able to think strategically, experienced in business/sales strategy development a plus

  • Excellent mathematical skills with ability to apply concepts of profitability and statistical inference to practical situations which guide better financial decisions

  • Computer skills including advanced excel, spreadsheet, macros and powerpoint,  Experience with financial such as Tableau, Power BI and CRM tools such as Salesforce a plus

We operate a hybrid working week consisting of three days in the office and two from home.
