Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) is responsible for managing the Group’s relationships with major corporate and government clients and institutional investors, and provides a full range of capital-raising, transactional and risk management products and services.
Capital Structuring is focused on structuring capital solutions for IB&M clients and giving clients a seamless and integrated experience when they are using credit products and services.
You will lead a team to provide trusted risk advice and constructive challenge to business stakeholders, helping ensure risks are appropriately identified, assessed, managed and monitored in line with the Group’s risk appetite, regulatory expectations and operational risk framework.
Working in partnership with business leaders, business teams and Line 2 partners, you will lead the ongoing enhancement of the control environment, drive accountability for risk ownership and contribute to a strong risk culture that delivers fair customer outcomes and sustainable business performance.
Key Accountabilities
Leadership
Lead and develop a high-performing team by setting strategic direction, building capability, fostering collaboration and ensuring delivery across competing priorities
Strategic Leadership
Lead the non-financial risk activities to comply with the Group Risk Management Approach (RMA)
Drive a culture focused on partnering with the business to operate confidently within risk appetite and expectations
Act as Capital Structuring’s trusted adviser on non-financial risk matters
Risk Advisory & Challenge
Proactively identify, communicate and provide actionable insights on material non-financial risk, conduct, and regulatory matters, supported by clear recommendations on control effectiveness and risk impacts
Elevate the quality of risk discussions through constructive challenge, prioritisation and simplification of complex risk matters
Strengthen Line 1 ownership, accountability and risk judgement by reinforcing effective risk management practices across framework activities
Change & Emerging Risk
Provide risk support and challenge for business initiatives, projects and change programs
Assess impacts arising from regulatory, operational and strategic change
Identify emerging risks and support proactive mitigation strategies
Contribute to thematic reviews and deep dives to identify systemic risk themes and improvement opportunities
Governance & Reporting
Prepare and analyse risk reporting, insights and analysis for governance forums and leadership teams
Facilitate and lead governance committees with quality reporting, action tracking and risk insights
Escalate material risks, incidents and issues in a timely and transparent manner
Risk Culture & Capability
Promote a culture of accountability, transparency and constructive challenge
Support risk capability uplift across the business through coaching and education
Reinforce strong conduct and risk management behaviors through day to day engagement
Act as a role model for effective Line 1 risk ownership
We're interested in hearing from people who have:
15+ years experience in Non-Financial Risk, Conduct or Compliance roles
Subject matter experience in lending, trading finance or structured products
Strong understanding of risk management frameworks, control environments and regulatory obligations
Experience leading teams responsible for risk assessments, incident management, issue remediation and governance activities
Demonstrated ability to provide constructive challenge and influence business stakeholders
Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management capabilities
Ability to balance commercial objectives with disciplined risk management
A proactive mindset, strong judgement and commitment to fostering a positive risk culture
