Job Description

What is the opportunity?

The Technical Lead Manager, GRC Engineering will drive the design and operation of innovative security solutions that safeguard RBC's cloud environments. As Technical Lead Manager, you will lead a high-performing team of security engineers responsible for building automation-driven security controls, conducting proof-of-concepts for new tools, and ensuring secure, efficient CI/CD pipelines. You will oversee the development of next-generation security infrastructure while mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of secure cloud development.

What will you do?

  • Leadership & Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of security engineers, fostering technical excellence and professional growth

  • Define team roadmaps and priorities aligned with RBC's cloud security objectives

  • Collaborate with Cloud Security Engineering leadership and cross-functional security teams to translate security requirements into technical solutions

  • Security Controls Architecture & Implementation :Design, implement, and maintain AWS security controls using serverless architectures, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation

  • Build and operate AWS Config Rules, remediations, and other security-related infrastructure and tools

  • Work with Wiz, our CSPM solution, to develop and enhance security controls across RBC's AWS environments

  • Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines to ensure secure, efficient, and scalable cloud deployments

  • Conduct proof-of-concepts for new AWS-native, open-source, or vendor security solutions

  • Cloud Security Operations: Apply SRE practices to improve the reliability, scalability, and efficiency of cloud security solutions

  • Establish standards, best practices, and operational procedures for the team

  • Communicate and interact frequently with RBC partners and employees across Canada and worldwide


What do you need to succeed?

Must-Haves:

  • 5+ years of cloud engineering experience with proven leadership or senior technical contributions

  • Strong proficiency in Python for developing AWS cloud security solutions

  • Deep expertise in AWS services and serverless architectures (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, EventBridge)

  • Hands-on experience with AWS Config and AWS security controls

  • Knowledge of AWS security services (GuardDuty, SecurityHub, IAM, Control Tower)

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools like AWS CloudFormation, Terraform, or CDK

  • Expertise in building and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, and Jenkins

  • Hands-on experience with containerization tools (Docker) and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes or ECS

  • Understanding of DevOps and SRE practices in cloud environments

  • Experience in people management and building high-performing teams


Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with Wiz or other cloud security posture management (CSPM) platforms

  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Splunk, Datadog, or AWS CloudWatch

  • Knowledge of cloud security frameworks and best practices

  • Previous experience delivering production-grade cloud systems

  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements

  • Familiarity with automation using AI Agents and Skills to enhance security operations
