Administrative & Procurement Specialist _ Center for Comparative Research

Job Summary:

To order and maintain appropriate animal inventories, food and bedding inventories, and provide administrative support for the animal laboratories.

Education & Experience

Associate's degree plus two (2) years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Certifications, Licenses or Registration Required:  ALAT, LAT and/or ALATG certification preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, knowledge and understanding of computer systems, tools and programs.  Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for supply chain coordination, attention to detail is a must.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for all animal orders clarifying unclear items, making sure of the specific model & strain of animal.
• Oversees all shipping and receiving arrangement of animals (USDA and Non-USDA) nationally as well as internationally, comparing items received to items orders, resolving shipments in error with vendors.
• Enters all animal related information into the lab database system and produces a delivery sheet as well as cage cards for each animal noting any specific/special information the investigator needs to know for each animal.
• Locates new vendors when there is need for specific animals or if a current vendor does not have what is required for the investigator.
• Orders general and specialized food and bedding for all animals.
• Assists in other administrative/clerical tasks as needed (including complex correspondence that may not conform to pre-established standards, answering telephone, scheduling meetings, maintaining department files, etc.
