The Sourcing Leader is responsible for evaluating and enhancing sourcing and procurement activities across the organization. This includes analyzing spend data, assessing the supplier base, supporting purchasing needs, and driving strategic negotiations.

The Sourcing leader will define, execute, and report sourcing strategies for a wide range of commodities—from mechanical and electrical components to complete turnkey systems and services.

In this role, the Sourcing leader will oversee new supplier qualification processes and contribute directly to cost-saving initiatives and cash-flow improvement targets. Additionally, this position will serve as the primary focal point for all U.S. Government purchasing rules, leading discussions, identifying and implementing process improvements, and providing training to team members and key stakeholders.

The professional will collaborate closely with sites across the NAM region, as well as cross-functional teams, to ensure alignment with business objectives and support operational excellence.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Drive sourcing and procurement activities on assigned commodities to deliver a competitive advantage within the North American market and apply advanced sourcing best practices towards operational excellence.
  • Drive RFQ’s, negotiate pricing and contractual terms and implement framework agreements with key suppliers, using contract templates in collaboration with Corporate Counsel.
  • Issue purchase orders / contracts for major high dollar value equipment and actively support the full procure to-pay cycle.
  • Lead for all US Government-related documentation, work instructions, implementation, and strategy.
  • Responsible for managing ($20-$40M) of the total annual external supplier spend for NA region on selected commodities including, but not limited to, transformers, switchboards, UPS, E-houses, Motors, Generators, services and others. 
  • Improve key performance metrics for NA region such as on-time delivery, savings against budget, year-over-year deflation, payment terms, cost of failure and product cost-out during sales phase (ITO).
  • Work proactively with ITO team in order to recommend the right suppliers with the most optimal commercial conditions, meet the proposal’s OTD to the customer and manage cost-out negotiations as per customers’ target.
  • Coordinate supplier selection, development and supplier categorization to ensure sourcing optimization, overall supplier performance and build long-term strategic relationships with key vendors in each category.
  • Develop reports, analyze spend and apply sourcing methodologies to identify opportunities for cost-reduction and cash flows improvements.
  • Resolve contractual and supplier disputes where they occur, protecting the interests of the business and engaging legal Business Partners where required.
  • Effectively collaborate with regional stakeholders and global sourcing members to interpret requirements, define, develop and implement sourcing and procurement strategies to further enhance business performance and outcomes.
  • Lead and train GE employees / contractors as needed.
  • Flexibility to shift focus and execute a variety of assignments as directed by business needs.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • Flexibility to travel up to 20%, supporting both domestic and international business needs.
  • Hybrid role – expected to work on-site three days per week.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in business related areas.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in commercial sourcing, procurement, supplier management and contract negotiation.
  • Solid M/S office skills including excel formulas, v-look up and pivot table knowledge. 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as presentation and report preparation skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and analytical skills with the ability to build strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop/execute strategic sourcing initiatives across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong understanding of financials and P&L impact of sourcing decisions.
  • Ability to assess supplier technical capability, supplier capacity, and develop new suppliers.

The base pay range for this position is $94,600.00 - 157,700.00 USD Annual.  The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a 10% performance bonus/variable incentive compensation/equity.

The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
